Jello, sugar free popsicles and protein shakes considered liquids?

So, it is my understanding that jello and sugar free popsicles are considered liquid? I am assuming you mix and chill the jello. You can just EAT it? Isn't it more difficult to handle size wise, than liquid? Also , with the protein drinks, can't you include them in your liquid intake? Just making sure. I go on full liquids once I leave the hospital, which is a relief as the clear ones aren't cutting it already on the post op diet.......

Of course double check with your doctor....but I was told yes jello, protein drinks, popcicles, yogurt can all be included as your liquid intake... in the beginning you can imagine drinking 64+ oz a day...but I am 4 months post op and it just comes natural now....I drink 90+ oz a day with no problem...if you have any other questions let me know....good luck on your journey....I love the journey I am on...Life is all good...

I would like to tag onto your question and add: "Do protein shakes count as food or liquids"?

Here's what I'm wondering...

(1) Do you need to allow 1/2 hour before and after drinking them like you do for food?

(2) Do they count as part of your daily liquid intake?

For reference, I'm thinking of actual off the shelf liquid shakes like adkins, boost, etc. and not smoothies or items that aren't fully liquid.

Thx.

PS: You read my mind today.  I logged on to ask basically the same question as you can see. LOL

I count it as liquid...and I count the calories for the food...after a 11 oz RTD protein drink I have no room for food...your tummy will let you know this...

My diet was full liquids after discharge from hospital so I can have yogurt without fruit, cream of wheat, apple sauce, but those have been hard to swallow things feel tight and sore and stuck. Good luck healing and recovering. I'm sleeping a lot of pain off a heating pad is nice.

Depends. What does your surgeon's plan say? I was not allowed Jello until I moved to soft foods last week. As for counting protein shakes toward fluid intake, I do count them because I mix my powder with water.
