Im so damn constipated....ive been drinking miralaz all week. 4 servings a day. But the directions say to mix with 4-8 oz. But Ive been tossing it in my shakes and tossing 2 servings in a bottle of powerade zero. Do you think diluting it is going to make it not work?? 

I drank mag citrate...didnt work either so I might need to just call a plumber. Are plumbers hot ? Hehehehe :)

dilluting it is not an issue.. and I can say, I recently learned there is a Rx strength dose too.. don't know what it is for adults... but for my 47 lb 5.5 year old child, it's twice the amount I take per the instructions on the label.

Might be able to ask your doc how much you can take in a day.  I know it can take 2-3 days to show results.. so to speak.

I found the Dulcolax Suppositories do the job and you don't have to refill your whole system band up like the oral.  I was using them but it was a cycle, use Miralax clean out, don't go and start all over again.

I just got the supps. I absolutely hate hate hate the thought of them, but 7 days and im going to die of like...toxic build up or something. 

My GI doc told to take as much miralax as i wanted until it worked. So I started with 4 servings b/c when I used it before, twice a day never got things going. But 5 days later, it's still not working. Damn my body hates me. 

Yeah but with them 15 minutes and things start moving when nothing else works.  Good Luck

Uh oh....what happens if it doesnt work??!!  I wonder if I could have a blockage of some sort. Im a hypochondriac for sure.

his pediatrician has said if he doesn't poop within 24 hours of receiving 1, do another.  then wait an hour.  if, within that hour, he hasn't pooped, bring him in--URGENTLY!  If these don't work, I would go in...it's scary when these don't work for my son the first time--2 has ALWAYS worked..I can't imagine how I would feel if 2 didn't work--and that's ME, not my SON, who hasn't pooped in days and is in pain...

We have been using miralax on AJ since he was 6 months old.  we have several things we do in concer****er (plain water).  juice--apple or prune.  it doesn't take a lot, but it does seem to help.  you could probably water it down...  miralax (we're down to every other day, half a dose).  and EVERY DAY, he has to sit on the toilet.  i give him 15 minutes notice, and usually before the 15 minutes is up, he's already taken himself to the bathroom and done his business.

I would try the children's version of suppositories--not the hard ones, the liquid ones...(TMI, the hard waxy ones your butt muscles can push out before they melt...VERY gross, and they need to stay in to work)

OK...It's no secret that if I know about one thing...it's Miralax and constip issues! LOL!

I'm hoping that once you read this...you have had this resolved already...

Diluting is not an issue...hot cold, alot a little...no biggie ( You are taking quite a bit though)...

Not to fire you up but YES...If you've had NO BM for 7 days...or very watery stool...you could be talking impaction or obstruction. Someone needs to listen to your bowel sounds and you need to get a KUB ( Kidney, Ureter, Bladder) It's a quick ultrasound that will easily detect what you have in your colon ( gas, stoool, blockages etc)...but you need to get it as soon as you can.

The thing is...the longer stool sits in your colon...the more water is pulled out and absorbed OUT of it. The DRIER and less wet the stool...the harder it is to pass, and can get stuck. If you have a nice hard stool "ball" blocking the exit...you can Miralax all you want...it won't work on that plug...it will work on everything from there up. ( Sometimes you can have a plug and some watery stool goes around it...so people think they are all set...but are not).This is why once you go...you have to go with Miralax every day ( one dose is usually plenty) . This will CONSTANTLY keep water in your stool so you don't get that dried up plug to start with. Right now,You may be behind the 8 ball so to speak...Just head toan urgent care...tell them you are constipated...they'll assess your bowel sounds, do the KUB...and disimpact you if needed. Then you'll be good to go. ( Pun intended).

Oh em gee I needed this advice last week. Stuck behind the 8-ball. That was me! Eight and a half hours of trying / crying / praying / bargaining.  Then three and a half hours of cramping / throwing up. Then the next day of mistaking farts. Holy Moses!  Next time I'll go to the ER.

Ive been in and out of the hospital over the last two weeks - ive had xrays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds. (ive had issues with rectal bleeding which the docs cant see any external/fissure/hemroid cause)  My GI did listen to my stomach...he said there is lots of gurgling?? LOL. Physically, Im just a total wreck on all fronts. If I dont ******g go today though, i am for sure going to urgent care. They can give me that colonoscopy prep stuff (my GI doc would have but ive been in so much pain that he said it would torture me to drink it and have to go)

I told him the miralax was a stupid idea since im already backed up....but he told me to do it anyways.  Im just feeling super hopeless - ive seen every doctor within a 20  mile radius in the last two weeks, and im not getting much better. I dont know what im suposed to do when the medical profession fails Maybe I'lll try and get a massage and some acupunture or something.
