I dont know what to expect...any one want to tell me??  Its not a big deal but its done under general anesthesia...am I going to be able to go to work the next day? Any pain after wards?

The docs going to check for an ulcer, check for damage to my esophagus from reflux and biopsy my stomach tissue for any remaining h pylori...

Either way, it'll be bitter sweet. I'd like to know what is causing my stomach pain for months, but I really dont want any damage from reflux...that's my biggest fear.

I haven't had my surgery yet, but my surgeon scoped me in January to make sure there were no surprises when he sleeved me. They did general anesthesia, but they used propofol so they didn't need to tube me or anything. I was under for like 25mins and really just felt like I took a nap. My procedure started at like 8am and I was home before noon and had no residual effects.

Oh good to know! Thanks. (my boss is happier to hear this than I am).  And a nap...sounds amazing right now.

I had an endoscopy about two weeks ago due severe GERD. I had to have someone drive me due to medication for sedation. I walked out of the procedure, felt a little tired the remainder of the day, and was find to return to work the next day. The hardest part was the fasting, since the procedure was scheduled for the afternoon. No biopsy was done. No pain . No damage, but I have a hiatal hernia and a loose lower esophageal sphincter, which are causing the problem.

I need to check with Baratrics, to see what my options are. Making some lifestyle changes are helping, cutting down on coffee is making a difference, eating more slowly, and using Zantac to supplement the Protonix are also helping. I had 3 flare ups while on vacation . One lasted for 2.5 hours and prompted me to see my pcp, who ordered the endoscopy. I did try some different things that may have provoked the symptoms. Getting back to my routine has helped.

My pcp also gave me some medication to help to slow down the secretions, if I feel an attack coming on. At least, I don't have esophageal cancer or any other damage and there are reasons for the symptoms that I do have. I am being more mindful of what and how much I am eating, not that I wasn't before, but it is even more imperative that I do so now.

Will you need surgery?

I'm glad to hear that it wasn't too, too serious.

Not at this time. They start with lifestyle changes to help with controlling the symptoms. If those don't help, then maybe surgery. I need to check with Bariatrics, to see what my options might be, if lifestyle changes don't help.

Hi Honey,

Go to MFP mail for details on what to expect.  They may not be exactly the things that your physician does, but it will give you an overview.

Obviously, will be saying prayers and sending happy hugs your way..........hoping that all will be well and easily fixed!

Hugs,
