power aid zero was and still is my go to. I am 11 months out and have always had a problem drinking plain water. Have you tried any sugar free flavors added to your water. also my surgeon kept pushing jello and popsicles to help get my fluids in. what about broths? also have you tried different temps of water, I have heard it has helped for some.

Unfortunately my water struggle was the same as what you are experiencing. Hang in there! It does get better. I do not know how far out post-op you are but your protein is good but the fluids need to increase. Some days I am very full when I wake up so I start with protein drinks and water. This seems to help me get my fluid in which I am coming up on 6 months ( 8-12 glasses ) a day. Do you drink protein drinks as those count as fluid also. I am not sure where you are getting your protein from by your post. I still get around 60 grams of protein from my drinks and then about 20-40 grams protein from food. Keep drinking! I always had a drink in my hands in the beginning and would sip every couple of minutes. It will get better and easier and I worried about dehydration all the time so set a routine for fluids and stick to it and relax ( no worries here ).  best of luck to you!

Try filling a one ounce medicine cup and sip, sip, sip.  Don't stop - just sip.... sip.... sip.  Once that one is down, fill it and do the next one.  Try to get a cup down every 10 minutes - if you can do that, you will do about 5 ounces in an hour.  In 8 hours you will hit 40 ounces - 2 more hours you are up to 60 oz.

Do that for a day or 2, then try to do an cup and a 1/2 every 10 minutes.  Once you get to that point, then 2 cups every 10 minutes.

By doing the little cups, you are taking some of the pressure off - it is easier to empty that little cup!

Whatever you do - make sure you hit 40 oz a day minimum!  Have Powerade Zero - it has electrolytes and will help keep you hydrated.

Focus on your liquids - they are your #1 priority - protein takes a back seat!

You should be sipping every couple of minutes.

Try drinking warm water. Cold water may cause your tummy to spasm which makes you feel like you are full when your not at all. Warm water will go down much more smoothly.

I'm 9 months out and still prefer drinking plain water warm (almost hot, not just Luke warm).

I did better with warm too. Gee, almost forgot about that, it was at least 3 months of drinking warm water.

Try sugar free popsicles.  They were my saving grace.

I'm always surprised by how fast some surgeons expand your diet.

I think you're trying to do too much too fast.

I did:
2 weeks clear
2 weeks full
2 puree
4 weeks soft food

At the point you are now, I was on shakes, jello, popsicles and water.

I'm SUPER NEW, so I literally don't know if this is allowed or not, but can you add a slice of lemon to your water? And I wouldn't gulp it, I would sip it. Like, every minute you can bear a sip. Find a paceable part of floor, walk around in circles and sip every time you pass (the picture of your mom, the TV, the oven, whatever.)

I was told to drink 1 ounce every 5 minutes. In the hospital I had the medicine cups and drank 1 cup (1 ounce) over a period of 10 minutes. Now, at 2 weeks out I take a "shot" every 5 minutes. I no longer use the medicine cups, but I do "sip" abount an ounce every 5 minutes. I could do more without pain, but Im scared to. Sunday I was drinking a protein shake and before I realized it I had taken in 3 sips back to back! I was so scared for the up coming pain, but didnt have it for too long. I take small sips, not even a mouthful. I drink ALL day, I dont always get my liquids in, but each day is better. I always have water with me and I do count my protein shakes and my Isopure towards my liquid count.

Plain water was hard for me. I added peach tea diet Snapple packs to my water. I was able to drink way more.
