I'm so frustrated...after being hospitalized for dehydration I still can't get in enough fluids. What am I doing wrong?? I set my alarm for every 45 mins so I can drink something. I can only drink about 3 swallows of anything at a time. I still can't eat that much. Today I had to force down under a half bowl of cottage cheese with a little sugar free fruit and I also had 1 boil egg. I did manage to get in 60 grams of protein with 8 oz of water. Now I'm working on trying to ge****er down. I'm soooo full that I feel like my tummy is going to explode. I'm still losing a pound a day. I know I shouldn't complain about that but I'm scared I'm going to be hospitalized again because I can't get down what I need . I think my doctor cut more than 85% of my stomach out. How do you guys get your fluids in??

Curious....why do you wait 45 min to drink? Do you mean after a meal or all day?
If its after a "meal" that's fine, but you should be trying to drink an ounce of water every 15 minutes (unless you're instructed differently). Sipping should be considered a job. Seriously.

Good luck!!

After 3 swallows I can't anything down until about 30 to 45 mins later. I was not told how often to drink. That's why I'm curious to know how everybody is getting their liquids in. Thanks for the advice.

you should be able to drink water more frequently than that.  did you purchase those little medicine cups to help?  one of those every 5 mins should be doable as minimum.  if it's protein shakes, it might be a bit slower.  but 3 swallows every 45 minutes?  something is not right there.  maybe you are taking too big of a sip and it's causing you discomfort and then you stop yourself?

it's a struggle the first weeks for sure, but ALWAYS have a bottle in hand, and if you arent talking or eating (or waiting after eating), you are sipping.

I used the medicine cups and it would take two sips to get one in. I took a drink every 10 minutes.

Have you tried drinking your protein in the form of a shake or Isopure? It might make everything easier because you're killing two birds with one stone.

Hi: Denise Everything I've read tells you to sip, sip, sip and walk. Maybe you are taking in to much water at one time, just sip. It's like a slow drip in a garden hose, drip, drip or sip, sip, all day long.

I hope this helps, feel better.
