Delurking, intro, and finished with 6 month diet!
While doing my 6 month supervised diet, I've been lurking around on this board and reading pretty much everything I could find about the VSG. Yesterday was my last NUT appointment and I'm on track for a mid-July surgery! Holy crow.
I'm 42 years old and I've been overweight for about the last 35 years. I've spent most of my adult life in the 240-280 range. When my mother passed away in 2004, I shot up over 300 and have been there ever since.
My husband and friends and teenaged daughter are all very supportive of my choice to have WLS. I'm in a very good headspace and I feel confident that I'll be able to deal with all of the changes that will be coming along. I'm also a first degree black belt in Songham Taekwondo (no, really!). I've got great conditioning and muscle tone, but between knees and achilles tendinitis and weighing over 300lbs, I can't do as much as other first degrees in my age range. It sucks.
I live in the Seattle area and am working with Dr. Hunter's team at Virginia Mason in Federal Way. I'm so excited! We're planning a trip to Europe in 2014 and all I can think about is how much more comfortable I'll be on the long flight, and how much more sightseeing I'll be able to do. :)
Welcome! Congrats on completing the six month supervised diet. I never thought my surgery day would come, but now I look back on it and think woah, that happened fast!
It's so great that you have the support of those closet to you! I wish you the best of luck!!
