Dexilant vs prilosec

Has anyone used dexilant? In the midst of my health disasters, I finally found a doc who did not subscribe to the normal "all PPIs are the same" club. So now i have a rx for this new one.

I also have been having serious abdominal pain and other issues for a while now - same doc finally ran a H.Pylori test and shocking (or not haha) it came back positive. Im pretty sure I have an ulcer with all the pain ive been in. It'll take me a bit to get the meds for that, but im a little relieved.

I had to stop taking my iron because my stomach didnt like it....no wonder. But now im not sure how im going to resolve my anemia.

1. You can get an iron infusion.

2. No, not all PPIs are the same. My doc took me off Prilosec and put me on Protonix. Was like magic.

3. Carafate seems to be the ulcer treatment of choice. It's hell to schedule around your vites, but works really, really well.

Glad you are finally getting some answers! Get well! Stay strong.

Iron suppository! Hrmph!

OOOOOOooooooo! I had that ****tail once in the ER. Sadly, it didn't work perfectly on me because it wasn't really a stomach issue. It was my gallbladder. But boy I could feel it numbing everything on the way down. It's an incredible little concoction that they give, isn't it. When they figured out it was my gallbladder, they gave me the nectar of the gods - dilaudid! Hell, I felt NOTHING once they gave me that. Talk about a super drug. I can see why people want to use it recreationally!!!! (I'm bad, I know...... but it was a kick feeling so silly!)

I tried to ask the pharmacy what the concotion was but they couldnt tell me...it was maloox, lidocaine and something else....hmmm. I wont play around with lidocain though.

What iron are you using?  The mildest on my GI tract is iron carbonyl.. It's what the vitalady iron is, and it's also available on amazon ( I think Sunset is the brand).   That's also the iron in my trader joe vitamins.

Good luck!
