E-cigs?

You need to make a decision about smoking, whether you are going to smoke or not. E-cigs are nicotine. They are cigarettes. A cigarettes is a cigarette. I quit 3 1/2 years ago after a 20 year 2 pack a day habit. The only way to quit is to quit. Why go back? Do you really truly understand the risks of smoking, especially after this surgery? You've had an opportunity to improve your health and quality of life. My suggestion is to find a healthy way to deal with the stress and not return to your vices.
Ok. I will preface this by saying that I have not had surgery yet, but have quit smoking for almost 5 weeks. I love love love my vaporzier (ecig). If the choice becomes smoke an actual cigarettee or move to vaping then I would go with the vaping. Here is why, yes you are still getting nicotine, but it is about as harmful as a cup of coffee. You are not getting any of the carcinogens, chemicals or second hand smoke that you would get with an analog cigarette (i just love that term lol). You are also not actually combusting anything like if you were actually smoking. You are inhaling water vapor. Is vaping ideal? No probably not, but is it preferable to actually lighting up? You bet your sweet ass! In my opinion it is no worse than using any kind of nicotine replacement therapy. You can adjust the amount of nicotine you put in the liquid, or have none at all. I am currently on the lowest level. There is some prejudice against e cigarettes because most people who are not smokers and even those who do, do not take the time to research them. I had been a smoker for 18 years and have tried to quit a number of times and this has been the most successful. Using my vape is the only way I was able to quit. I will never go back to analog smokes. :) I will probably at some point in the near future go down to 0 nicotine and still vape. Mostly because it will be tricking my brain into thinking I am smoking. But if you can avoid the cravings all together and not pick nicotine back up, you will be doing yourself a favor. Do not feed the nicotine monster if you can avoid it! Do whatever you have to do to not pick up another cigarette, that way leads only to a place you do not want to go. Stay strong my friend!
Exercise your stress off. It will help with your weight loss. Walk, lift hand weights, dance in your living room.
Even vapor is not good for you. Nicotine raises your blood pressure and heart rate. That increases your risk for a stroke or heart issue.
I did the sleeve to get healthy and increase my life span. Why do something as drastic as removing part of your stomach if you arent going to commit to the new life style fully?
Just my 2 cents...oh from a former smoker.

ecigs will only lead you back to regular cigs. breathing problems, possible cancer, difficulty exercising, and into yet another unhealthy habit. why would you want to do that. find a better habit to help with your stress

That is why I am so glad there is a 0 nicotine level on the vaping liquid. my end goal is to be nicotine free, and that should be his goal as well. I am only saying that if he is going to break, using an ecig is the lesser of two evils. But I am also saying that not breaking at all is the preferable choice.
hi,
just came across your post because i am a e-cig user (0 nic) i have been using for a while now and as far as i am aware the harm in them (0 nic) is just as harm full as a asthma buffer (it has the same filler i mean not the same meds) i am not sure of the issues it has with the surgery but when all else fails ask someone in the "know" ie doctor, surgeon, nut/diet
just my 2¢
