I am spending hours a day researching VSG. I was just wondering if anyone was sorry they had the surgery? Has anyone had major complications?

I only thing I regret about VSG is, not having it sooner than I did. I love my new life after VSG. Good luck with your research. The best thing you can do for yourself before WLS is researching your options.

I'm a new sleeved and like Mike I only regret not doing it sooner...
It is an adjustment, but I feel this is the step I had to take to get myself healthy..
There are risks with any surgery..but to me the rewards out weighted any risk involved..I was slowly killing myself and I had to change...best thing I ever did for myself and my family....

Sorry that I wasted 18 years of my life fat. Sorry that I didn't do the VSG a lot sooner and sorry that I had my head in the sand for so long about diet and doing it the "natural way". I should have known better. Sorry that I wasted so much time anxious and scared. Not sorry for one second that I had this surgery. Not sorry about having done my research and having selected a surgeon who was really perfect for me and who gave me the sleeve that I can live with and it really doesn't cramp my style at all. I live as before and I eat a thousand times less but equally as much better than before. No complications at all...zilch. Easiest recovery and so far a great journey.

Three years post-op, still below goal and rocking my size 2 skinny jeans.  TOTALLY regret that the VSG wasn't available 20 years ago.

I'm 5'2" and 55 years old.  VSG 3/17/10

Sorry I have lived so long with pain and pain killers. Sorry I didnt do more with my kids.
Happy that 47 lbs are gone and excited to see what I can accomplish.
My grandpa lived years with 1/2 a stomach due to ulcers. So that didnt bother me.
But do your own research, and choose your right path.

I'm not sorry at all!!!!!  I spent hours researching and the OH board is the best place to find your answers. You need to research and weigh out all of your options. I had a smooth recovery, because of what everyone on this board had said to do after surgery. I haven't felt this good since I was in high school. I have soooo much more energy!!!  You will not regret having the surgery maybe that you didn't do it sooner!

Good luck!

I will be the voice of the unpopular...

I completely regret and hate that I did the VSG.  I did have complications immediately following surgery, but I am not happy that I did it.

I am finally "normal-ish" and still regret my decision.  I thank god that I could not have the bypass (which was my first choice).  I can eat almost anything now, but I still feel like if I can make the right choices in food now (which I am), I could have done it before the surgery.  I am sure it is my mind playing with me, but I cannot undo the surgery, so I am making the best out of it.

Admittedly, most people are thrilled with the surgery.  Maybe down the line I will change my mind, but for now, not so much.

Good luck.

I'm not where I want to be, but I am closer than I was yesterday!
