a little rant about tomorrow

Well, tomorrow is administrative professional's day, so the school site coordinators are being taken to lunch by the administrators. In the past, I would have been thrilled, but not now. We are going to an Italian chain restaurant, so I followed the vet advise and looked at the menu online. Oh man, I didn't see a single item that was reasonably WLS friendly.  So, I called and was told by the hostess that she thinks I can swap pasta for veggies. So, I really have no idea how this is all going to turn out, but I will just have to do the best I can. I will have to choose, fatty food, or super carby food, oh how I wish I could just skip it.

What about a salad with a side if chicken? You could brIng your own dressing if need be?? Most Italian restaurants have salad ! Sorry... I understand, I used to live going out to eat and now u don't really see the point! I'd rather go out for coffee or tea!!
Hope it goes well,
Christina

Most italian places have chicken dishes. Just eat the chicken and leave the pasta!

At the very least, maybe you can order a pasta dish that has meat on top of it, like chicken, meatballs, italian sausage, or some kind of fish, and just eat the meat.  I'm sure it'll be rough to have a plate of pasta put in front of you, but that's something else that could be an idea.  Maybe they would be able to put the sauce on the side too?  Or do less sauce than a regular serving?  You can totally do this.  :)

If it's a nice place, they probably should be able to accomodate. My Italian thing is eggplant parm, BAKED...not fried. Lite on the sauce, lite on cheese and breading ( if any breading) hold the pasta. Not apto of prot...but then I drink a RTD shake before or after on the way there or home.

You may surprise yourself!

Good Luck!

Grilled shrimp or grilled chicken breast. Doesn't matter what else they put around it. You can do this.

If you have to order a meat and pasta dish, just tell the server to bring you ONLY the meat and not pasta and sauce. I would think they would let you change out veggies for pasta as well. Also you can tell them to bring a box with it and when you get it, cut your portion and put the rest in the box to prevent you from overeating.

What about meatballs, meat sauce or chicken?  Just don't eat the pasta.

if you could tell us what Italian chain restaurant it is, maybe we could look at the menu?

Olive Garden has several good options--
