How much can you eat at 3 months post op?

Some days I can eat 2 scrambled eggs with an oz (3-4 slices) of turkey bacon, and others I can eat 2oz deli ham and a slice of wheat bread and be full for breakfast. The rest of the day I am picking at food here and there. I try to get most of my proteins in in the morning because I don't get enough in during the day. I feel as though I'm eating more than I should. If I eat meat I can eat about 4oz or more in one sitting, but I usually don't finish the rest of my food because I get full off of the meat.

Im 7 months out and can still only do 2-3 oz of protein or 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of anything else. I definitely can't eat 2 scrambled eggs.

Picking is not good. Stick to whatever you plan says. I do 3 meals a day and every now and again a kiwifruit as a snack in the morning.

Not only couldn't I eat two eggs by themselves (much less with 3-4 slices of bacon) at three months, I still couldn't at 2 years out. I could eat one egg OR the 3-4 slices of bacon. I also could barely eat the 2 oz of deli ham by itself at 2 years out.

Couldn't speak to the slice of toast. I never ate bread during loss, still don't except in a restaurant when it's something really special. Number of slices of toast eaten since surgery two years ago = zero.

I am 4 months out on Friday and most days I eat 2.5-3 oz of meat three times a day.  I will usually make a vegetable of maybe 4 pieces of asparagus or 1-2 slices of eggplant but don't always eat it.  My snack is a piece of string cheese or a piece of jerky if I get hungry.  Lately I have a sf popsicle which helps with my water, measured popcorn and/or a protein shake before bed.

I don't know if I could eat 2 scrambled eggs or not, only because I have not tried.  For me the amount of protein in an egg is not enough to help me get my protein in for the day and I get hungry quicker so I have been sticking to more dense protein like chicken, hamburger, steak, etc. for all meals.

If you are concerned that you are eating too much, try and slow down when you eat.  I do find that when I don't pay attention and eat quickly, that is when I eat more and then I am more uncomfortable after I eat.

Also the whole point of eating your protein first is so that you do get full and don't want to eat the other starchy, high carb foods.  This will help you get the weight off while changing our eating habits for the better.  While I will occassionally have a piece of bread, it is the exception and I don't miss it.

I'm 4.5 months post op. I typically eat 2oz of meat and 2-3 tablespoons of veggie. Breakfast is more like 2 slices of turkey bacon (1 whole slice is an oz so I am not sure how you are eating 3-4 slices and it is an oz) or 1 serving of turkey pepperoni. It takes me a while to eat 1 scrambled egg so I wouldn't attempt to eat 2.

I don't eat more then 2 oz of meat in one sitting.

My proteins are pretty evened out with a shake in the morning, shake at night and 3 meals throughout the day.

What is your calorie intake? Are you tracking your food? It does sound like a lot of food at one time to me, I know personally I can't eat that much or I haven't tried but everyone is different.

I am three years post-op - I can't eat 2 eggs and 3-4 slices of bacon at all.  Maybe 1 egg and 1 slice of bacon.  DON'T start eating a bite here and there - you will eat way to many calories and gain weight.  Believe me I did that.  I gain about 12 pounds and am now going back to the basics.  Have lost 6 pounds in one week.  Good luck.

Totally agree with everyone else. Follow your food plan you were given. Track all of your food. It's not healthy to eat a bunch of food in the morning and just "pick" the rest of the day. Your life has changed, you have to stick to the new regimine. If you read thru this forum you will see the basic rules to follow are the ones that work, and for most people, diverging from the basics = unhealthy, weight gain, anxiety, feeling bad about yourself, being confused about why you feel bad or gain weight or don't lose weight---all the stuff we are all trying to avoid, right?

Don't you check in regularly with your surgeon and/or nutritionist? Attend a WLS support group?

I'm five months out and can eat one egg and maybe one slice of bacon. No more than 2-3 ounces at one sitting, and that takes 15 minutes to get down.

It works if you work it; it sorta works if you sorta work it; and it doesn't work if you don't work it.

Whoa! Isn't it about what we're Supposed to eat (2-2.5 oz) versus what you Can eat??? I have no idea if I can eat two eggs. I've never tried. I'm following my doctors plan. Not to mention I just had major surgery to lose weight. I'm satisfied though not usually full....I thought that was the goal. Keep eating till you're full seems like an unsuccessful approach....that's what I did before surgery....and what led me to need surgery.

I am almost 3 months out and I can "comfortably" eat for my meals 2 oz of dense protein and a little more than 1/4 cup of fruit, vegetable or starchy vegetable.  If I try to eat more I am uncomfortable.  Bread and pasta have not passed my lips. I get my carbs from starchy veggies or legumes. My carb intake for the day is pretty low most days.  I don't plan on increasing the amount of protein per meal for quite a while, as most days I can meet my protein goals with food.  If not I have a protein shake in the evening.

I have been pleased with my weight loss.

I firmly believe in measuring EVERYTHING before it goes in my lips. I know myself and pre VSG could eat extremely large portions.
