With all the protein we eat. And we are eating chemically fed animals... Aka growing hormones... Won't this make us grow/fatter?

Just a thought in my head! Have gone some what organically with my foods.

Hugs

Donna

I don't know about it making us gain weight, but not all protein has to come from chemically fed animals.  Buy free range chicken, grass fed beef, etc.  and you won't have that worry.

Free range, grass fed, ect... Isn't that organic? Or, do they use friendly pesticides on  the grass and grains? I'm all new to this and learning ! Don't wanna sound like a biotch

I don't know about Canada, but here in the US, grass-fed does not always mean organic, and organic is not always grass-fed. For example, there is organic ground beef available at my local Costco, but it is not grass-fed. If it isn't labeled both, you may not be getting what you think you are seeking. If I have to choose organic vs. grass-fed beef or bison, I'll take the grass-fed as bovines were never designed to eat grain.

It is a good thing DH & I can't eat much, eating this way can be expensive. But, I figure since our food capacity is limited, I need to feed my body with the very best I can get.

I hope that helps kiss

I studying nutrition and we actually just covered this. Organic fruits n veggies don't make much of a difference. It has been found that organic produce decreases the amount I'd pesticides in a consumers urine... But there are no ill effects linked to said pesticides in ones urine. Now, meat and dairy are a different story. It's actually the hormones and antibiotics used to treat these animals that has scientifically been proven to greatly increase breast and colon cancers. So all in all for better health look for dairy and meats that are from non hormone treated animals and are antibiotic free. Crazy eh? But trader joes has these options and they are very financially friendly as compared to other organic grocers.

While we can't control the food we eat when we eat out or at other people's homes, my husband and I have been eating hormone-free and antibiotic-fee meats for years.  So yes, I agree with you.  It's especially important with milk, by the way.

We also eat organic veg.

I am new to the idea of organic eating...I was told produce and breads had the most chemicals. Specifically produce without thick rhines. This wound mean lettuce, broccoli, tomatoes, potatoes etc would probably have the highest chemical content....?
