Absolute no-brainer. Yes.  And I agree with those that said they'd do it annually if that's what it takes.

Your dh needs to talk to all the people on here whose lapbands almost killed them and now they have sleeves! They have a completely different perspective on how "safe" the lapband is.

Also, your surgeon's leak rate should be well under 1%. If it's not, RUN! There are plenty of surgeons who do have a leak rate in that range so no need to take a needless risk. As an example, my surgeon hasn't had a leak in YEARS.

Getting the VSG was the very best thing I've ever done for myself and I would do it again in a red hot second.  If I had to do it every year I would do it happily.

Just to give some perspective on "such a major surgery," when I had my VSG I was in surgery for about 40 minutes and breezed through with no complications at all.  When I had a facelift a year later I was in surgery for FOUR AND A HALF HOURS and felt like a truck had run over me for weeks.  The cosmetic surgery was about a million times worse than the stomach surgery in every way.

There is no way I would ever get a band.

I'm 5'2" and 55 years old.  VSG 3/17/10
