Almost 1 Year Out/Question??

Well I'm just about 1 year out on 4/23/13.  Hard to believe... I'm down about 165 pounds so far!!  My question to those of you that are that far out do you find that you can eat a little more than 4 oz at a time? HOW MANY SNACKS DO YOU DO IN A DAY??  I'm just curious sometimes I feel I can and others I cant depends on what I'm eating.  I don't know weather its that time of month (TMI) that makes me "think" I need more or crave more or just crave junk but am I alone in this?  I know how far I have come and I know I NEVER want to go back but some days its harder than others.  

I'm going to the gym 5-6 days a week and I'm just wondering in order to lose the last few pounds Maybe I do need to up my calories but with protein not snack food. I see my Doc and Nut on 4/23 so I have a few more weeks to try and figure this out any help would be great! :)

Hey Jenn. 2 snacks a day typically for me. Volume is up for me but protein isn't. I can do about 3.5-4 oz of solid protein. I've been adding some veggies to my diet which is increasing volume a bit. Probably 3/4-1 cup in mon fluffy volume. For example 1/2 cup of egg beaters fluffs up in the pan but doesn't seem to be more volume in my stomach. On the other hand, veggies like spinach cook down so post-cooking volume seems to rule there. I'm around 900-1000 cals right now and slowly working thru last 7 lbs.

I will be 1 year out on 4/10, so we are basically at the same place.  I eat 6 times per day.  For example here is my today menu:

B: Protein coffee (coffee with 1 scoop Syntrax nectar chocolate truffle powder, 1 SF creamer, splash of almond milk)

S: 2 slices deli roast beef & 1 slice cheese

L: 1/3 of an Atkins frozen dinner

S: 2 slices deli chicken & 1 slice cheese

D: 3.5 oz Rotisserie chicken

S: Pistachios

This will get me right around 830 calories, 100 protein and 25ish carbs.  I have found that the weight is really slow coming off now.  I have been stalled out for about 6 weeks now.  I exercise about 4-5 times per week.  

Hang in there - do what you are doing - it obviously works - Great job on the 165 lbs!!!

When I'm following my plan (which I'm sad to say I have not been so great at lately!) I eat 6x a day. I still can only eat 2.5-3oz of protein at a time so to get my minimum of 80g, I have one protein shake for breakfast and then eat 5x more thru out the day. My snacks are a cheese stick, turkey pepperoni crisps, protein chips or protein hot chocolate from my bariatric pantry. I tend to stay away from protein bars and the above mentioned chips because they are triggery for me.

I'm almost two years out and about a year at goal. I eat three meals a day, 2 oz. protein breakfast and lunch and 3 oz. protein at dinner. I eat snacks between each meal. I'm not sure about what to do to stop a stall. I'll let others speak to that. 

Here's a typical day for me:

Breakfast: 1 slice bread, two slices lunchmeat, Soy Latte

Snack: 1/2 bananna

Lunch: 1/2 cup chili (Imake my own), 1 cup salad with 1 Tablespoon salad dressing

Afternoon snack: piece of fruit and some pretzels

Dinner: 3 oz. protein, 1/2 cup veggies, 1/3 cup starch such as potato, rice, or noodles

Before bed snack: 1/2 cup greek yogurt with berries, graham cracker

At a little over one year out I eat every 3-4 hours. I drink protein coffee in morning before 8am. Around 10 or 11 I eat 1/2 of ham and chese omlette made with 1/2 cup eggbeaters. Around 2 I eat lunch - usually 2 ounces protein and maybe vegetable. I have a snack around 530 usually and dinner around 7. Then around 9 I usually have small snack. Calories usually 800-900, carbs 60 or so and protein near 100. My day looks much like grazing and you have to be careful about that....however, it works for me to eat smaller amounts more often. One if my goals is to preserve my restriction as long as possible My weight loss is much like stair step. I can do the same things daily and not loose and ounce. Then all of a sudden I will drop several pounds rather quickly.

So glad I read this post. I am 11 months post op and I have been stalled 3 weeks now. I was starting to think that I have failed at another weight loss attempt. I need to restructure my eating and I know your examples will help us all. Thank you.
