As ******g Alison pointed out to me yesterday we are 12 TWELVE weeks before the marathon.  So let the training begin.  The Triple C's will be there...that's my Crazy Friend Mandi, My Crazier Friend Alison, and The Craziest of them all ME!!!  Our motto you can do ANYTHING as long as you have a crazy friend to do it with you!!

So Who else?  I remember the B's are doing it with us...anyone else?

Im soooo ******g tired and have a pounding headache but i'm taking my out of shape ass to the gym at lunch to kick off the training :)

I know some others were going to do it - and anyone else that feels like they want to join - SHOULD!!

Hey - it's really not my fault I paid for an app that sends me alerts that im being a lazy ass and better start logging some miles. I'm just sharing the news announcements :)

While I can't be in San Diego for the marathon, I am considering training for a similar event. I can do about 4.25 mi in 45-50min (slow, I know).
Can you give me some tips or point me in the right direction as far as apps go to assist with training. I have the RunKeeper app but I don't think it is always accurate.
Thanks!

That's not that slow. I avg'd a 11:30-12:00/mile pace for my first 1/2 marathon.

I used and still use Hal Higdon's 1/2 training program to keep me focused on a training schedule. It tells me what to do and when to do it. Last summer when I started training in August, I could barely run 3 miles, but i followed the program and in October, ran the full 13.1 miles so I know it works

For my outside runs, I use Nike + GPS - its similar to RunKeeper and it's not 100% accurate but it's close enough for me.

You should pick an event, and sign up and it will motivate you to focus on training and moving forward. It's easy to kind of plateau if you dont have a set goal you are working towards.

I will look in to Hal Higdon. I need a program just so I know what to do every day. I'm doing a running for fat loss thru Runkeeper and it gives me a schedule so I know what to do each time. I'm not sure if its helping with fat loss but at least I know what to do when I get out there!

I'm scared thinking about 13.1miles but I never thought I would be doing 4 so I'm going to see what events are coming up in the greater Cincy area!

Thanks for calling me slow...I feel so much better that I do 2 miles in 45 minutes...kidding but not...

Yes, my 1/2 crazy butt will be there. In trying to get into "training" mode I have made a "discovery," I prefer ice skating and ballroom dancing over running. Actually, this isn't really a "discovery" but more of a "yes, I knew that" moment. But hey, at least I'm running with DH and my 1/2 crazy friends from OH.

Oh, we all need to nail down which hotel we want to stay at. We should try to stay at the same one if possible, that way we can hang out together. I just hope this time nobody's phone takes a hot tub soak.

If you want a program to follow, I'm using Higdon's 1/2 training. I used it last time and it is pretty good. I can't say that I love to run, but I do get the "runner's high" when I am done - mostly because I feel accomplished because running is tough ****

And the social aspect helps and the whole "race" environment makes it bearable to get pumped up about.

Lets get to work now!
