Cha-cha-cha!
Really! We went to cha cha class this evening, and had loads of fun (and I didn't injure anything!). We had planned to start back with our regular Wednesday evening class, which for this session, is tango and rumba, but the studio was closed in anticipation of Snowquestration. So we'll start that next week now.
Dancing is fun exercise! And I hate most exercise. So if you are looking for something fun, give ballroom dancing a chance! Trust me, if I can do it and have fun, anyone can!
I heard of a woman doing this in one of my bariatric support groups. I would like to give it a try. I think my husband would come along. The hard part really is finding the time and the money -- we would have to spend about $50 buck each time to get a babysitter. So, we don't do a lot since we have no one to watch our kids for free.
Try the community colleges too. Here, they often have ballroom dance classes -- and they are much less than the private lessons. We do group lessons which are usually $15 each -- and the community college classes are even less (thought you might have to pay for the whole session -- my friends have done this, we haven't).
But even at the studios here, they have group lessons for $10 or $15 each.
Or -- get a WII with a dance program and have the whole family join in!
Once my husband retires in a few months, we are planning to do more dancing and taking ballroom classes. I love dancing and think it is the best exercise for me. I can do it for hours, while I can only tolerate the elliptical for about 6 mins.
Glad you had fun. The key to exercise is doing something you enjjoy.

The is a wonderful type of dance called NIA ( hard to explain but sort of a dance yoga). I go whenever I can and also plan to sign up for tap dancing.
Movement is fun!
