Facing my fears...one protein shake at a time

I can really relate.  Food is my 'most common reaction to life".  It is so hard not to reach for our old 'friend', the cookies, cupcakes, etc.  SO HARD.  It is so habitual and natural for me to instinctively grab some flour/sugar when I am in panic mode. I had to have an 'emergency' therapist meeting today because a couple days ago I had a a full-fledge food freak out (I had bites of some bad stuff, but luckily my new sleeve prevented a major binge).

Thanks for sharing your truth and your new resolve.  It reminds me that the surgery is 10%, and 90% is on me.  It reminds me of the demons I still face, and that I have to be willing to do whatever it takes to keep them at bay.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.  I've followed your journey and have been inspired by how far you have come and how you became an athlete.  I think sometimes we are our toughest critics and can be very hard on ourselves.  Try to treasure all of your accomplishments and realize that we are all works in progress.

You remain one of my heroes! ALWAYS!!!!!!

Great post. Thanks for putting it out there. It is tough and I so get it. Big hugs. Always here for you.

Now, I'm kicking myself for not driving through the desert on my way home from AZ last weekend. I chose to go 10 to 210 to 5 to save time. Should have called and stopped off for one of your vanilla latte thingies I had the last time!

Thank you for posting. I never got to goal before my marriage and life started falling apart and I couldn't handle it either. So I have been doing bad for over a year! And if it wasn't for my sleeve I'm sure I would have gained all my weight back but I gained back about 37 pounds in over year and a half. I, too, am planning to go to Costco this weekend and get my premier protein shakes and pretend I am "post op" and do liquid and soft protein all week to get a jump start. I'm still married and trying and it's still very hard but I can't let my health suffer any more. I also see a psychiatrist but I plan on attending OA for more support. Thanks again for posting and helping me remember I'm human and not alone and I don't have to fail. I may have stretched my stomach some but I know I still have restriction so I just need to pick myself up and work it!!

It happens, but the sleeve will always be with us when we are ready. Success and failure aren't absolute - we can always be a work in progress....sooo just try your best.

Sucks that life keeps on going when we're still trying to figure some part of it out. I wish we could hit a pause button sometimes.

You are nothing if not tenacious. From one tenacious ***** to another, *hugs*. Way to beat this demon. Again.
