X-Post 5 months today
Well 5 months ago today, I joined the loser's bench. It has been quite an adventure so far. Aside from number of pounds I have lost (and hopefully will never find) I have had some great NSV's along the way. There are way to many to list, so here are some highlights:
Being able to bend over to tie my shoes in a fitting room, I did not have to sit down.
Several closet purges and being able to donate those clothes to a rescue mission thrift store where the proceeds are used to shelter the homeless and feed the hungry in my community. I also have been shopping there for my temporary wardrobes.
Several Southern California meet-ups where I have been able to hang out with fellow WLS people who are also lots of fun to be around.
Being able to put my wedding ring back on after several years of not being able to. Now it is to big and I will need to get it sized soon.
Being more active. I have returned to ice skating and I'm taking adult lessons. DH and I have started ballroom dance lessons too. It has become our date night as we have to drive 45-60 minutes each way to be able to do this. Skiing was a lot easier the last time I went in December. And I am signed up to run the San Diego Rock & Roll 1/2 marathon on my anniversary weekend.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank the vets and everyone else who has encouraged me along the way.
Good for you.
I'm jealous of this one: "Being able to put my wedding ring back on after several years of not being able to."
When I get there I am going to be just deliriously happy.
Can't wait to take ballroom lessons, too. We tried last summer but the class got cancelled. Once I'm healed up and good to go for exercise and stuff, ballroom lessons are a priority for us. Kudos to your husband for being right there with you, activity-wise.
Thanks for sharing!
I have a basement but don't dwell in it full time.

Linda, I'm so happy for you! You are doing a great job and have earned every one of those NSVs!
I remember when you posted about getting back out on the ice and how thrilled you were about it. Your dedication is opening more and more of those doors for you, and you're an inspiration.
What a wonderful, victorious post! Congratulations. Sounds like you have been real consistent with your program. I'm inspired. My wedding rings are also put away for now. I miss them (hadn't been able to wear them for years, and then was able to again for about 7 months- now too big.) but will wait till I'm about 10 #s from goal before having them resized. You're the butterfly at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for the post!

Linda,
You remind me a lot like Ryan because you both embraced this WL journey way before having the surgery. I think putting your mindset in the game the way you did before surgery just made you even more successful. I applaud you for this! You have done awesome. It's been a while since I've seen you; the Halloween meet-up. Hopefully we can all get together again soon! Congrats on all your success so far!!!
