Is 3g of sugar to much????

That is probably a good rule of thumb, but it depends on how much of the total carb count it is. If there are 8 grams of carbs and 3 is sugar, compared to there being 4grams of carbs and 3 of it is sugar, it means the sugar makes up more of the total carb consumption. Ideally in the 8/3 scenario the other 5 are from fiber, then I would say go for it. But it were 2 grams of sugar and 2 grams of carbs I would have to consider what it is, something natural yes, something packaged no, it could mean added sugar or corn syrup or something like that.

I would probably take the shakes back. Go to your local Vitamin Shoppe or online. They have a huge selection and you will definitely find something that fits your Nutritionists guidelines. My experience with protein shakes is that you will have to compromise a bit on them because you need to balance your plan with how they taste because for 1 your tastes will change dramatically over the next couple of weeks and you will get sick of whatever you buy.
So the next rule of thumb is never buy 3 containers of protein powder because they are expensive and you will get sick of them. I have 3 containers in my cupboard now that I will at some point have to force myself through. I was on a banana flavor kick when I bought a 5lbs container of it. That one is going to be rough. I made a committment to myself not to buy any more until I finish up everything that I have in the cupboard and I have some nasty looking samples to power through. Not sure how I am going to do the chocolate flavored pea protein.

I'm of the mind you have to find one you like or you won't drink it at all!
Good luck!!
Ps I must've tried 20 others I gagged on, sorry but taste is important to me when im living on the stuff and I cannot eat or drink anything that I hate! I just won't do it and I don't think it's necessary. There are many that we're recommended that made me gag, I have a very very strong sense of smell and it gets in my way!
When my wt loss has stalled it has not been from my protein drink, it's been from lack of water and this last week from too many calories and carbs and bumping out of ketosis'

Honestly, I see nothing wrong with what you have. 6 total carbs isn't that bad. I did do research early out and went with a far lower carb protein powder though. I was focused more on total carbs, not just sugar carbs.
My protein powder has 2.3 total carbs per scoop and less than a gram of sugar per scoop. It's called GNC Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60. It's my go to protein and I always have it in the house.
If you are early out, I wouldn't worry about it too much. You aren't going to get a lot of carbs in your day anyway. When you run out of what you bought, just look for a lower total carb protein powder.
I love mine and recommend it highly.
