Today is my 4 year Anniversary!
Hi there! Just wanted to be a little inspiration for anyone who's considering or just starting out with their VSG journey. 4 years ago today I had surgery on my stomach and also had a total thyroidectomy due to them detecting a nodule when I was going through my pre-surgery program. So not only has the surgery been successful I have done it without a thyroid making weightloss normally extra difficult. I started out at 278 pounds size 20/22 and went down to my lowest weight of 163 size 10 all within the first year. I currently weigh 188. I believe my weight gain has been from my thyroid and metabolism. I recently starting excersizing doing crossfit and its definitly helping to boost weightloss again. Anyways just wanted you to know this has been the best weightloss tool EVER and I would know because I have tried them all! Good Luck to you in your journey.
Thank you...I just wanted to share being I used this website constantly when I started out...It really is such a great support system. I haven't been on here in a couple years. Im going to start utilizing all the resourceful info again. Its so motivating. Especially when someone can relate to something you are going through and just offer simple advice or at least let you know that its a normal experience. Good Luck to you!
Congrats!! That's great!!Sounds like things are going good for you!!
I will be 5 yrs at the end of the month! It's been a great ride and I"m happy to have this tool. It's there for me when I choose to use it...I too have gained a few lbs back...but it's my fault not the vsg. The great thing is as soon as I exercise and eat all my protein first the weight starts going down.
Wishing you the best!!
Congratulations! I'd like to ask; when you started losing that "gain", did you struggle to do it, or by watching your calories/exercising was it like a "normal" person (i.e. one pound a week?) Thanks to a new job where I'm sitting most of the time (I used to be on my feet constantly), and some stress related to it, I've regained 10 pounds of what I lost 2 years ago. I'm finally getting serious about losing it, but am wondering.....Thanks!!
Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your story. I am just beginning my pre-surgery program, in fact yesterday was when I first met the who team ( the mental health nurse, dietician, and exercise programmer. ) Today I went for my first appointment with my general practitioner for my weigh in the first of six month journey. I still have to do the cardiology, and other stuff but I have been assured that this six months will fly by, I have to lose 18lbs in the next 6 months.
