You sound like what I just had but mine was not as severe as yours. It's the stomached flu going around like the great plague!! You need to concentrate on staying hydrated. Drink room temp liquids. Don't try to eat just yet your stomached is raw right now. Start on a probiotic. I take align. Your stomach just had a major operation plus the flu. Just be careful.

I too had a very very hard time soon out, I really belived it could not be just lack of hydration,  I argued I was in pain, sick to the point I felt like I was going to pass out every time I stood up and dry heaves.  I was wrong because every time I got an IV when I went in it helped.   I didn't realize I wasn't getting enough fluids.   I actually set a timer next to me and made my goal to drink 6 oz every hour.  Sugar free popsicles counted toward my intake as well.   If possible make the fluid protien such as broth, nectar powder or protien shakes.  I also agree you need to call your surgeons office and let them know that it is continuing to be an issue if you haven't talked to them since Thursday

.

I agree....call your surgeon and let them know what's happening. This will help you be on the safe side.

What food were you eating at dinner with your family at 19-days post-op?  (Can't believe no one has asked this yet).

Also, you need to seek advice for what to eat from your surgeon, rather than us.

Good luck.

My first call would have been to the surgeon's office. Dehydration is nothing to mess around with. At 2 weeks post op I got really ill, I think it was a stomach bug (lasted all day and came out of no where). I could barely tolerate water. I got zofran from my surgeon's office and they recommended drinking G2 (low cal Gatorade) to rehydrate from everything I was losing (liquid in, liquid out).

I don't think it would hurt to stick to liquids until your feeling a little better. Chicken broth is good because the sodium helps retain fluids. I personally love Unjury's Chicken soup protein (it is 21 grams of protein in 8 oz). That has helped me get my fluid/protein goals everyday.

I am still in the puree phase however toast and rice are not allowed on my plan for a while and I would stay away from those. Here are some things I eat that you could try if you havent or if you are up to it: chicken/tuna/egg salad (blended), greek yogurt, fat free cottage cheese, sugar free puddings/popsicles, mashed potatoes/sweet potatoes, or Ricotta bake (like lasagna without noodles).

Good luck to you. I hope you feel better soon!

Since you got the chills and fever, sound like you were cursed with a stomach virus.  One has been making its way around my area and I had it and my daughter had it.

Like everyone said, staying hydrated will be your main objective - gatorade (g2 - the sugar free one) or powerade zero have electrolytes that will help you stay hydrated - so sipping those with ice chips will be good.  SF popsicles ill also be good.  Canned chicken thoroughly mushed up with some sort of fat (mayo or greek yogurt) can fill your need for some solids.

Take it very easy - sip, sip, sip. and then sip some more!  Feel better!
