Full liquid diet
I am just starting the full liquid diet. (Stage 2) I was wondering do drinkable yogurt, drinkable soup very thin and thin protein drinks count as a meal or do they count as a fluid. I'm trying to figure out if I need to wait 15 minutes after drinking other fluids than drink than than wait an hour to resume fluid. Or does that only apply in the puree stage? I am also trying to figure out how I'm going to get my liquids in if I start adding full liquids.

Surprisingly (or not), it seems that different docs count it differently. So the advice here is usually to ask your NUT or doc how they want it counted.
Personally, I tried to treat meals as meals. So even with my greek yogurt, or soups, I didn't drink with the meals and waited. That approach help me keep a more regular schedule around getting in my fluids, since I will need to get that level of fluid forever!
According to the book we received from the doctor's office, you start the 15 min before and the 1 hour after during the next stage which is purees.
At this point, you should try to just get in anything liquid. I avoided yogurt and soup because the protein drinks made me feel full.

Thanks Izabelle. I did miss that in the book. When a meal was considered a meal. So just drink protein and fluids. And worry about meals in the puree stage. Will do. or Will try. lol Yesterday it was as hard as can be to get in that 64 oz but I did it! lol

At this point it's probably more important that you get your fluids in as best you can. There are lots of stories here of people getting dehydrated. In lieu of asking your doc, I wouldn't wait a full hour to start up again.
