You are going to KILL that Tri!  I had to call of my tri hopes, just because horse show season and tri season coincide and there is only so much time.  But I know you are going to ROCK at your first tri.  While I will probably not be able to see your adventure please keep us up to date so we can see how it all plays out.  Stop with the self doubt.  You are already a success.

Alison,

I can see you as a triathlete very much so.  Maybe there are self image issues if self doubt is rearing its ugly head.

You have been in healing patient mode for weeks so it is hard maybe at this very moment to think of yourself doing something so empowering as triathlete competitions.  And it has been a long haul losing the weight as it is for all of us.  I know how hard it is losing 50 lb and even after getting to goal i did not do a good job of finding my maintenance legs.

I have a feeling that as you move beyond this healing phase that you are going to rock your new body with swimming, running and bicycling competitions.  I can see you doing that!   I have no doubt that your days ahead are going to be better.

Im not sure where the self doubt comes from - something I definitely need to explore more but there's definitely a big conflict between who I was, who I am, and who I want to be. Time to streamline my multiple self images.

"Time to streamline my multiple self images." -- Good way to put it!

Nothing in life ever stays the same, and we are always changing a bit, so we may as well change into something we want to be.  We are all becoming hybrids as we evolve :)

Allison, you are such an inspiration. I see some of the things you all accomplish on here and it makes my jaw drop. I am hoping to complete a 5k by the fall, I'm still working on walking one at this point.

Thanks for all your advice on MFP. You are such a great supporter and motivator.

You are amazing and Deff a SSB!!!

Have an amazing Christmas,

Hugs,
Michael

I walked for 9 months before I walked my first 5K - But I started by walking. You can totally do this! Once you do one, though, be prepare to be addicted to the finish line high :)

You are so awesome!  I just love your posts.  I was wondering... when did you start making your athletic goals?  Right after surgery or after you had lost some weight?  I used to be very athletic but now have a knee that's basically bone on bone.  I'm hoping after I lose the weight I will have less knee pain and be able to do some of the things I used to be able to do.  Just wondering when you felt that you could make a reachable goal?

Thanks!

It was the reason I had surgery to begin with - when I came on OH for the first time, the very first day i even considered WLS - I stumbled on the Exercise forum and saw some of the most amazing people and role models, so I knew from that day I would pursue some athletic endeavors. I completed  my first 5K one month beore my sleeve surgery. I had a alot of aches and pains but I did it.
