Today's cure for emotional eating

I'm pretty sure coffee was my transfer addiction - I started drinking it instead of eating and to take care of my sweet tooth (add enough SF vanilla and sweetner and voila)  But after surgery a couple weeks ago, my stomach can't handle the coffee anymore, so now I'm bored, stuck at home, and can't drink coffee. I swore I was going to have to get duck tape for my hands and mouth yesterday. (the good news is that I can't drive or shop and because I dont bring junk in my house, all I have is protein to eat!)

This morning, I was up at 6 am because I can't sleep either - and so I wandered into the kitchen for my new morning treat of diet hot chocolate. I normally add SF peppermint to it, and it's pretty good (as good as it gets for 25 calorie hot chocolate anyway). But this morning, I eyed a bottle of SF rasberry syrup on my counter, I decided to get creative, and added a little bit of it to my hot chocolate. OMG - it was perfect. I guess it's not much of a cure but at least it will reduce the damage :)

Im going to try and add an extra walk or two to my day to get me out of the house a little bit. I

It's ok gurl.  I have been drinking enough venti skinny peppermint mochas from Starbucks for the both of us.  I'm not sure if your coffee addiction is long gone or if your tummy will be able to handle it and want it later on.  That diet hot chocolate mint is good.  Which diet hot chocolate are you drinking?  Is it a protein hot chocolate?  Chocolate & Raspberry is a yummy combo.  I gotta try it!!!

Love ya my friend!

I miss my iced coffee from starbucks but I guess since I cant even drive, it's better that I got over the caffeine withdrawal while under the influence of pain meds lol. Id be screwed if I needed coffee and couldnt get it!

I just use Swiss Miss Diet hot chocolate - no protein in it. I thought about adding some protein powder to it, but since I get enough protein anyway i just drink it as it is. We can have a cup when I see you :)

Im not sure what's up with my stomach. It's funny because my acid problems have gotten better since I'm not really stressed, but I still get nauseated randomly. I sure hope I can drink coffee again!

Every day,

Fage gy, teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa, raspberry Torani, splenda.  I had a couple of raspberries.  Heaven.  Feels like desert with 20g of protein.

Could the acid have gotten better since you are NOT drinking your weight in coffee

I'm beginning to wonder if it's a winter thing. Some sort of natural inclination for us who have been obese to pack on a little extra weight in the winter time. All my friends who battle with their weight (WLS peeps or not) have been complaining about wanting to graze, wanting to eat too much, craving holiday sweets and treats, etc.... I don't think we're alone.

Isn't it great that you have strategies in place to help you through this? You're double whammied right now because it's not only the dreaded holiday food season, but you have the whole idle, boredom thing going on. You need a lot of strength of character to navigate the next weeks!

Hope you're doing well. How is the healing coming along?

The idle boredom is what gets me every time. That and procrastination. I don't want to work on edits, so I *decide* to find something in the kitchen. Luckily, I have my very own cabinet in the kitchen that hold only good foods for me. that helps a alot.

Working from home can be a test sometimes.

I dont even really have any "head hunger" so to speak. I am litterally just bored out of my mind and find myself in the kitchen. Ive been doing good grabbing water instead of food for the most part, but im still eating more than I'd like to (but in reality, im still eating less than when im stressed at work so its' not an emergency yet)
