Tomorrow will be my last day to eat.
Hey - Don't fret you can still have some of the flavors you love - even on soft foods. Try some of these options:
1. Greek Yogurt with Sugar free Torani or DaVinci Chocolate and Peanut Butter Syrups - Reeses (or Dove) Greek flavored yogurt!
2. My Cheesy Chicken Taco Wraps - look for the recipe on here from months ago. They are made with ground chicken and fit really well into a bariatric diet at 600 calories a day. - Heres your mexican flavors. I also braise the chicken breast in the same taco seasoning mix till it pulls apart - perfect if you like shredded instead of ground meat.
3. Take greek yogurt and drain it for 24 hours, blend in some sugar free coffe flavored syrup from Torani and freeze it for an hour. Voila - Coffee flavored frozen yogurt with a really rich creamy taste.
I always tell people, I learned to love food more AFTER my surgery. I could taste the natural goodness in foods I would never touch before. Limiting portions and eliminating fat and carbs does NOT mean you have to say goodbye to the flavors and cuisines you love. You just have to be a little more creative sometimes.

All sounds like some good ideas especially the coffee ice cream replacement. How do you strain greek yogurt it's so thick? I thought it was already strained.

Put it in some cheese cloth suspended over a bowl. Some whey will drain out leaving it even thicker. You can use a cheese press too if you have oe.

You are doing yourself a favor by putting yourself thru this! Our center does 1 week bmi 35-40, 2 weeks for bmi 40-49 and 3 weeks for bmi over 50.
Our center had you have liquids only but, a couple years ago added some veggies to the diet. They used "BetterMD" shakes thru doctors only but my friend who used "Medical wight loss" found out that the shakes and other stuff is made by/same as WonderSlim which I can buy without going thru the doctor or weight loss center and get on sale for $2 less. They recently changed the packaging so it doesn't look the same but, it is still the same product.
As far as the foods you are going to miss, this surgery will not stop you from eating them, that is all on YOU!
Good Luck doing what is good for YOU!
My BMI is 47 something. So it is good that I do it two weeks. The veggies your center added to the liquid diet are they liquified or are they raw or steamed how much do they say to add? I might add veggies to my liquid diet to keep good nutrtion in my for surgery.

I'll probably get shot for saying this, but I wasn't required to do a liquid diet at all pre-op. My BMI was 50.5. I went to a Center of Excellence that has amazing outcome statistics. My last pre op appointment was 13 days before surgery and the surgeon just said "lose as much weight as you can before surgery - no last hurrahs!" I lost 6 pounds in those 13 days. I ate what I wanted but I ate small portions. My last meal was a small amount of pasta, a small dish of ice cream, and a diet coke. I went cold turkey the day of surgery from carbs and caffeine and didn't have any trouble. I didn't crave them at all and felt fine. My body had other things to worry about post op! :-)
I AM NOT saying to do what I did. What I did was allowed by my surgeon. You should do what your surgeon requires. If your surgeon wants you to do 10 days, then he/she considers 10 days safe. If you want to do 5 extra, that's cool, but don't feel as though you have to do extra. There is so much variation in what the different surgeons require - the best thing you can do is follow what yours tells you.
Ice cream was always my "drug of choice". I don't miss it now. I thought I would, but I don't. Even when tempted because it's around, it's pretty easy to walk away. You might be surprised how your tastes change after surgery. I'm only 5 months out so I'm sure cravings will return, but my new mantra is "nothing will taste as good as being thin feels" - and I mean it!!!
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!
Thank you for your comment. Interesting yes I have heard of some that didn't do the diet. I think the thinking behind the diet is to shrink your liver as they have to move that when the doctor is working in surgery. But of course it's a safety precaution that some doctors use but it's not a rule. Not craving doing a liquid diet but I'm so safety conscience it's crazy. I have heard of some doctors also do a low carb diet solid food before surgery. Every doctors is different. Congratulations on you excellent weight loss!

I started the pre op phase 3 months during the supervised diet period. I substituted 2 meals for protein shakes and then a careful dinner...Worked wonders lost 39 months and then only had a 3 day liquid diet prior to surgery.... My BMI was close to 60 so that really helped, and zero complications in the hospital and home!
Best to you
