Three Year Anniversary

Hi Friends,  Today marks three years from my vsg. What a terrific three years it has been. I lost 125 pounds beginning with a peak weight of 247 and this morning weighed 120.5.  I have a bmi of 20.8. I reached goal in 10 months or so and have been maintaining ever since. Its been work but so worth it. It feels so great to live life without that fat. While I remember mentally what it was like to be so fat I have less and less physical memory of that fatness. For a long time after reaching goal I would wake up and think " YAY I AM NOT FAT AND I SO LOVE IT".  Now its becoming the new normal. Life is better in so many ways; some expected and some very surprising.

I am very committed to maintaining the weight loss. I think you have to be as committed to this as you do to losing in that phase. But it becomes natural if you establish good habits. I make my goal every six months to be at or below 125.

My younger brother was kind enough to give me a car he didn't need. There is a picture on my profile page of "old chick new car". Maybe someone can post that pic with this message as I can't figure out how to do it.  I am like that car - high mileage but in mint condition.

Anyone wondering if this surgery is worth it or feeling like they are struggling with some phase, let me tell you IT IS SO WORTH IT. I feel 20 years younger and feel like I will live many years longer. Life is good slim. Love love love my sleeve. Thanks Dr. Cirangle.

Congrats on your three years! Thank you for all your kind words over the past months and your great support of me! I agree whole heartedly that maintenance takes just as much work (if not a bit more) and is equally as important as the losing phase.

I have wet/dirty footprints in my house with the rain. How about you? Only thing about dogs and rain.... it doesn't make for easy housework!

Yeah we have rain so the foot prints abound. I just live with the dirt. Reminds me I have to do toenails this weekend. Guests next week.

But I am glad I don't have Maltese or something where I have to keep the coat up in pincurls all the time. Love the terrier coats - they sort of repell water and dirt comes off easily (all over the house).  Usually on a clean bed!   Diane

Double thumbs up on the harsh coats!!!! I have a friend who is one of the top breeders of Cavaliers in the US. I took one for a couple of weeks to help it get socialized. That hair tangles and mats just looking outside!!!!! No thanks!

So happy for you.  What always strikes me about your posts is that you always seem to strive for balance and that seems to be the hardest lesson of maintenance.  Congratulations on the way you walk your road.
