Advocare experiences?

I have no experience with AdvoCare. However, if your PCP's wife is distributing them through his practice, that seems a conflict of interest.
I kind of agree. I was a bit disappointed in him when he mentioned it. Of course, most doctors are pushing the fancy prescriptions that the pharmacy reps push at them, so I guess it's not much different that he's trying to sell me something else.
After looking at the breakdown of the products and the price, I've decided to skip it. Lord knows I don't need caffeine-based energy drinks.
There is a caffeine free Advocare energy drink called V16 does the same thing as the caffeine based drink just caffiene free. Just a FYI
I tried Advocare years ago and had a bad reaction. I was on some sort of diet aid (duh! - haha!) and within 2 weeks to the day I started taking them, I had very bad heart palpitations...almost like my heart would skip several beats in a row. Scared the heck out of me...I called my GP and he had me come in immediately and he did an ekg on me....it showed a definite problem with my heart rhythm and sent me to a cardiologist AND told me to stop taking that product immediately. The Cardiologist took an ultrasound of my heart and put me on a heart monitor for 24 hours. (My dad had heart disease and a triple bi-pass so they weren't gonna mess around with me). The ultrasound came back with no apparent problems, but the heart monitor had repeated episodes of irregular heart beats. The Dr. concluded that it was the Advocare and that it should be out of my system within a month or two. It took 3 months for the irregular heartbeats to stop. That was a scary ordeal to say the least. I vowed to never, ever again take any pill to try to lose weight. The woman who sold the Advocare said to me that "no way" my situation was caused by Advocare, but there was nothing else in my system and my heart was fine. The cardiologist said there are many things out on the market that will cause that kind of reaction if not worse and they are all supposed to be Doctor approved and etc. Well we are all different and how can they say its safe for all of us. I am living proof (thank goodness) that anyone can react strangely to anything we put in our bodies. Like I said...that scared me so much that I have never taken anything for weight loss or fat burning etc. and never will. I'm glad you checked it out first before going forward but I wanted to put in my 2 cents in case anyone else is considering it. Good luck to you!!
I have never had any problem with the Advocare products. Many doctors, chiropractors, personal trainers etc. share them with clients and patients. Any nutritional product can have adverse reaction for a certain number of people.
I noticed one comment on here from a person that said they took product many years ago. Like many companies the old MNS (Metabolic Nutrition System) used to contain Ephedra. This is not in the products anymore as it was deemed unsafe.
There is a very top notch Science advisory board for Advocare and they take their role seriously.
As a person educated on supplements and herbals in my profession I would never tell someone that a product could not cause their reaction because everyone body is different. Reactions from my customer and clients have been positive but I have had one person have trouble with one product.
I love Advocare products and take them daily to stay healhy and the new exercise DVD is awesome!!

Hi Kathy I use Advocare Spark myself but due to a heart condition I was advised by my cardiologist to not take the 24 day challenge due to interactions with my medications. So as a distributor I always advise to print out the product information on the website and take to their doctor first. As a pharmacy technician I know this first hand and as you said any supplement can have interactions on people regardless if they are on medications or not. So its always best to check with their doctor first.
Also the doctors at Advocare are also available for questions. The Sci-Med Board and R & D are very helpful. I work with supplements al ot - not just with Advocare and am very are that one person can have great results and the other person it won't help. Pharmaceuticals can be like that too. Our bodies are all different. Good job checking with your doctor !
