My diary. Op was done on 9.11.12
14.11.12 (5 days after)
I was told this was going to be hard but I did not realise it was going to be this bad. Today I've really started to regret going through with op. I don't even know why I'm writing this but I guess it's just for those people who are still weighting for theirs. Think about it carefully. It changes your life. I hope I start seeing the benefits soon. Need some inspiration

I'm sorry you're having a rough time! I was sleeved on the 8th and I must say that I'm feeling great today, yesterday I was out shopping and I'm off all pain meds. Perfectly content with my broth and water too. The first two days were rough for me, but I walked walked walked walked, and eventually it got better. What do you find difficult right now? The mental part? Are you still in pain?
It would help to know what you're finding so hard to deal with. If it's the gas, you need to walk. If it's painful or pinchy incisions, that goes away quickly. Until it does, take your prescribed pain meds. At this point, you don't need to overly worry much about getting your protein in -- do so if you can, but if it's a problem, relax........concentrate on getting in your fluids. Water, decaf coffee or tea, juices, sugar-free popsicles, Jello, broth -- they all count. You do not want to become dehydrated.....that's extremely dangerous.
You're probably feeling pretty zapped and have no energy. That can get a person in the dumpers. The reality of knowing you won't be eating the way you used to might be bothersome. Try not to grieve that -- you won't be able to eat that way anyway. More importantly, you won't want to. You might have head hunger, but you won't be physically hungry.........not for a long time. I'm a bit over 4 months out and I still have no hunger. I eat because I know my body needs the nutrients.
Did you detox from carbs prior to your surgery? What kind of pre-op diet did you have, if any? What is your food plan?
Yes, VSG definitely changes your life. Two weeks from now, you'll have had a chance to see just how much it changes -- to the GOOD! I know that when I got home and found that I had gained 8 pounds in the hospital, that knocked me for a loop and I was NOT a happy camper. However, 1 weeks later, tha****er weight was gone and then the serious losing began. You'll start to see that soon. Once you see the scale rewarding your efforts, you'll try harder to get your fluids in and you'll try harder to get some protein in.
I'm sorry you're having these feelings. I can pretty much guarantee that if you read your post a month from now, you'll wonder why you were feeling so down. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself and I don't regret one single thing about it. I hope you'll be saying the same thing a few weeks from now.
Good luck, keep us posted on your progress -- we are all rooting for you to succeed.

Hi all and thanks for you responses.
What I am finding hard is probably more mental then anything else. I miss eating. Every time I see food around me I don't want it physically but mentally I do. I can smell food better then I could before. Someone was making themselves a sandwich yesterday and when they chopped the cucumber I've never smelt cucumber like that before. I guess I feel a bit fresher this morning but was feeling rather bad yesterday probably cause I'm bored too. I am going to get out today and keep busy. I'm not used to all this time off work too.
Thanks again all
