ok so I see most people on here that post on "Whatcha eating today " list some sort of snack.  My question is are we really suppose to be eating a snack? I know everyone's plan is different but rarely do I just see B, L, D... I feel bad if I have a snack even if its a protein shake or something that's healthy!

What type of snacks do you eat?

Snacks are part of my plan. I am required to eat 5 times a day. Even on the pre-op diet I had two snacks which was either a yogurt, protein bar, or 1 serving of fruit.

Now, I never leave the house without a small insulated lunch bag and a lil ice box. It always a couple of things like low-fat cottage cheese singles, yogurt, string cheese, muscle milk, or turkey slices.

If I get a sweet tooth I pack some type of berry.

Do you ever feel like your eating or drinking ALL the time? I feel like its never ending with my mouth and I get tired of eating and drinking, lol

I have a couple of snacks a day- usually beef jerky, string cheese, cottage cheese, or a protein bar. I would never get enough protein or calories if I didn't .

it is really just a matter of terminology. some people call it snack some people call it a small meal.

As long as it is a healthy snack and on your plan don't feel guilty.

now,if you are eating chips candy etc for your "snack" that is a different matter.

My NUT's plan says 3 meals a day - each meal should have at least 20 grams protein and be under 300 calories. No snacks but can substitute broth for some of my liquids. So far - I'm 37 days out - no problem. I don't miss the protein shakes as I never really found any I really liked. Not saying I will never have a snack - but following my NUT's plan as I should.

I eat 5 or 6 times a day. My snacks, like the previous poster, tend to be string cheese, veggies and salsa, protein bar or jerky. Though as I'm typing this, I'm eating a 2nd portion of my dinner which was amazing! I made Thai Chicken Satay that Frisco posted and it was so good I wanted more. I sometimes post on that thread but the names of the meals don't really mean anything to me. I start my day with a shake, work out, then have breakfast. On that thread, I call the shake breakfast and my breakfast I say is a snack. I will log the chicken I'm now eating (on MFP) as a snack.

I eat 3 meals (2 oz protein) 3 times a day. I have a shake for "snack" later in the day. I eat a lot of chicken, fish, lean hamburger so I typically cant get in a min of 600 calories unless I add another snack. Often it is a cheese stick or more protein of some sort. Tonight I had sugar free gelatin for snack because I dont have any calories left for today. It was 5 calories/1 protein/0 carbs.

Snacks are cool. Helps rev up the metabolism. I have been eating Almonds mostly. Good Fats, nice crunch, a little salt. Good Omegas.

My plan/NUT requires NO snacks.  It freaks me out when I see people snacking.

My only exception is that I eat a cheesestick before I Zumba/treadmill/swim.  I need a little something or I get woozy.  That's getting better lately though, so I may be able to cut that out.

I'm not suggesting anyone not stick with their plan, but it truly doesn't matter whether you eat 3 times a day or 10 times a day as long as you stick within your protein needs and your calorie budget (whatever that amount may be).  There are plans that discourage eating between meals because of the risk of mindless eating and grazing.  Many of us eat planned snack/mini-meals.  Again, one size doesn't fit all.  If 3 meals a day is working for you, then there's no need to experiment.
