grateful for thrift stores

I had to go on a hunt for work clothes today. I hit a couple of thrift stores, and I found some work pants for now and a little later. I also scored a couple of sweaters for a bit later. I did not want to waste money on smaller clothes at full price that I know I will only use for a short time, so this sounded like a good solution. I have been shrinking so fast, that what fit last week, doesn't fit now. I had to keep my pants closed with safety pins last week so they wouldn't fall off of me.

I'm stair stepping with the weight loss, but when the scale pauses, I lose inches. So, I'm gaging how I'm doing by the scale and how clothes fit.  Oh, and I can feel my collar bone, shoulder blades, and hip bones now. This is so cool.

That's a good idea to utilize the thrift stores.  How long ago was your surgery? Mine is in two weeks!!

I'll be 2 months on the 13th. We did the same thing for my DH after his VSG last December. We waited to buy new stuff until he hit his goal.

My daughter and I are headed for Value Village after church tomorrow. It's COLD here and I need a couple of warm sweaters. My sis has been handing me up the clothes she's been shrinking out of, but there weren't any warm sweaters in my current size in the last bag of clothes. Happily there was a really warm coat that should do for another 10# and 2 wonderful quilted vests that I can get away with for a bit longer. (They fit perfectly in September)

I'm jazzed about shrinking, and I'm learning to not get attached to anything in the closet. I do need to spend some money for a ski jacket as I do plan on hitting the mountains a few times this winter.

So true. I'm learning to wear things I like while I can, since it seems like I turn around and something else is too baggy. I found 2 cardigans today and my daughter found me a pair of pant liners to wear under my yoga pants. I have 1 size of yoga pants left it the "shrink into it" drawer, then I'll have to shop for pants. Maybe even real pants. lol

The pant liners are a real boon, since it seems I'm ALWAYS cold these days. I'm even having trouble getting to sleep at night because I'm just too darned cold - even though I have 2 extra blankets on my side of the bed. Barry suggested I try using my heating pad to get cosy at bedtime. I'm going to try it tonight. I'm hoping this is just my usual Fall temperature adjustment, exacerbated by losing a chunk of weight and not my thyroid misbehaving again.

Me too! Pre surgery I never even thought about buying used clothes but once you start going though the sizes it is a life saver. I was just telling my hubby that I cant believe the amount of money I have thrown away on new clothes before I discovered thrift shops. Hell, even when I decided to stop losing, I will still be shoping there!

I found stuff with the tags still on them. Of course I donated a few of those things too.
