I'm having a hard time lately!
Oh goodness, you are not alone. I have just gone through similar feelings about food and wanting to feel full. I still find I want to eat when I'm bored - not even hungry, just bored!
We have years of messed up eating to contend with. That's okay. What is important is that we not succumb to the old behaviors. I strongly believe that our surgeon's or NUT's post op programs set us up for success or failure for when these situations come up farther and farther out. I know my surgeon's plan did not allow for snacking on anything like a processed carb or baked good. It was really protein or veggies from the get go. After a while that really started to become a habit. That doesn't mean I haven't strayed, but the new foundation for good eating is there.
I'd suggest making a promise to yourself of eating low fat, dense proteins and non starchy vegetables for your snacks. You can't eat a lot and those types of snacks will keep you full. It's really about changing your mindset to get that last 50 off. YOU CAN DO IT!
I am no vet, but I am certainly a vet to that old thinking and snacking. Elina has posted that her Green Chicken soup is low calorie, low carb, high protein...and that after a couple of days of eating just her soup she feels her restriction is back with a vengeance. If you like it, maybe you should whip up a batch and use it for meals, for snacks....now that the weather is cooling off maybe you are craving some comfort food? I dont know, but sometimes already (only one month out) I know I mourn the just being able to EAT.
Feeling.. the full from restriction sometimes does not feel like the full from really filling up. I am sure a big piece of that is my head.. just enjoying the eating process for a straight half hour. on a big full meal was enjoyable for sure. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to get full on 2-3 oz, and I wouldn't undo it, but I think it is normal to miss that feeling and all that came with it. Especially when you have people around you who still do it.
Maybe having lots of yummy soup for a couple of days will be a reset and get you away from any trigger. And try snacking on bell pepper strips with dip or other veggies you like to get your crunch. Maybe edamame? PLAN your snacks, even if it feels like grazing for a few days, as long as it is all on your plan and you come in at your calorie/carb levels. I know we are supposed to stay away from grazing, but I think its better to plan and have the right things if you need a few of those days, than to fall victim to unplanned snacking on the wrong things. Just my opnion. You can do this!! You have done fantastic!!
