A "WTF" kind of conversation at the Vitamin Shoppe

I went to the Vitamin Shoppe to pick up a few protein sample size packs and some protein pudding.

I was checking out, I asked if they had a particular flavor, the guy (who was cute btw) goes in the back and checks and comes back and says no. And then he asks me if I am on a high protein diet. I wasn't quite sure how to respond...so I just smiled and said yes. He kept talking, blah blah I dont know what he said, but then he was telling me about some protein he likes, and then just randomly asked how many grams of protein I get a day. I told him that I was aiming for 120-140 g a day and he looks all shocked and asked me why I was eating so much protein. Sooo...I paused, and had no idea what to say. i opted to just tell the truth so I said I'm having surgery and my doctor recommended upping my protein.

"Oh well, I've heard that your taste buds change after that kind of surgery"

Excuse me? What kind of surgery do you think im having???   I looked at him crossed eyed like WTF is that supposed to mean, so he backtracks and asks what kind of surgery I am having. So I told him I was having plastic surgery...and he said, oh, nevermind, I guess your tastes wont change.

Maybe I am being sensitive, but I'm pretty sure he insinuated I was about to have weight loss surgery. Am I really that big?? What the hell...

I usually don't talk to people when I'm checking out, but this guy was super cute, but damn, I feel like he called me fat!! I know i'm not little but gees, even OH tells me based on my BMI, I don't qualify for WLS anymore lol.

I understand about being sensitive to things like that.  I find it odd that he said that to you about the taste buds because I just posted something about MY tastes buds having changed.  Apparently, I was the only one that didn't know that happened!!  

Regarding his comment, some guys are jerks.  Actually, some people are jerks.  I wouldn't let him upset you.  You are brave and awesome and you don't need him!!

Its pretty common for taste buds to change - wls is the only surgery ive ever heard such a change where that might happen...

Im not really upset but just seriously like...WTF.  

Assuming things is rude.  He assumed since your asking for high protein that your going in for weight loss surgery..  Who cares what some dumb guys thinks anyways.  I think you look great ;).  Do not let his comments bother you

But, I had a tank top on. For heaven's sake, I have SOOO much excess skin on my arms, it's freaking obvious that Ive already done and had WLS. Seriously. I have random strangers approach me and ask me how much weight ive lost just because of my arms. Sooo weird that this guy is talking about WLS haha.

I am sorry your feelings were hurt, but seriously, some people are just clueless. There is no way at all that you look like you need WLS.  I think he is just dense and a bit slow.  It's all him and not you at all.  You are beautiful, inside and out.

I think I was just shocked for a minute. I'd bet my paycheck this guy is single hahaa.

He probably thinks that if you are not at 16% body fat you qualify for surger......dumb ass.
