Does anyone else feel like all your physical strength must have been in your fat. I"m such a weakling now, I'm thinking about some strength training.

I'm Still a work in progress, I wont give up the quest to reclaim my life, I will be whole again someday!

YES!  I think it must be in the energy capacity though, I have been on a downward spiral since surgery 3.5 weeks ago.  Strength training is a great idea and I will be doing it.  Miss being able to lift and haul all that I used to.

A couple of factors are at play here:

We do lose some lean mass. How much depends on how well we did with eating high protein to preserve our lean mass and whether we exercised that lean mass while we were losing.

Our actual weigh contributed to our ability to brace and resist. For example, we have really big trash cans that when full can way well over 100 lbs. I used to weigh double what they did. Now they sometimes outweigh me. It's harder for me to move them now because when I put my weight behind it there's less than half the weight behind it that there was before.

Strength training is a fabulous idea and will help with the first cause, but not the second.

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

Go for it!  Strength training has helped me to feel a bit more "put together".  I felt so good last week I added some skipping & running into my walk.
