I take several daily meds. I was released from the hospital the next day after surgery. I asked my surgeon about my blood pressure, thyroid, acid reflux and cholesterol pills. He said "take them as you always did" I was very confused, but he said that I shouldn't have any problems. That night I took the two I take at night. i was very scared, but took them and nothing. The next morning I took the rest of them, one at a time (usually put them all in at once) and I was fine. I am now back to swollowing them all together. I even take regular tylenol.
Well considering that I take NO Vit/MEDS at all I would say all lol I know so not funny. I haven't taken any Calcium Citrate since I had the surgery. I take a Vit B-12 when I think of it and no Multi Vit either. I have tried all kinds but my doc said In the far far future I will be able to take pills Maybe. I have an apt with him Oct 16 I'm going to ask again it will be 6 months If he doesn't want me taking pills I guess I wont be taking anything b/c I gag on everything else. I took pills pre fine and I take tylon, BP meds just find so I'm not sure what the problem will be? Just wondering how many others are taking pills and if they had any problems or if there doc said no and why?? THANKS!

They gave me pills right after surgery when I was still in the hospital. They cut the bigger ones in half but they went down just fine. I think it is more about how you handle pills normally. I haven't ever been able to take those horse pills because I gag. That for me has nothing to do with the surgery. I think the coated pills definitely feel better going down early on. The cut uncoated pills were more rough going down...for me. If you are fine taking full size pills before surgery, you should be fine after.
They started giving me my pain pills to swallow while I was still in the hospital, just cut in half. I've been taking pills ever since. The only ones I've had a problem with are the big horse pill calcium pills (note to self, spend the extra 4 bucks to get the petite pills at cosco) and oddly enough, one uncoated anti-epileptic pill. That one was weird, wasn't even big but got stuck every time. Had to switch to the liquid on that one.
