 Hi

I had no complications with my surgery and had surgery on a Tuesday night and was back at work the following Monday.  I work in an office at a desk job.  I also have two toddlers at home and to be honest going to work was easier than staying home with my kids.

I am a hairdresser and own my own business.. Just me as the worker.. I was back at work just 7 days after surgery.. No problems.. I had no problems with surgery except at first with throwing up. After the first 24 hours all was good..
It is so hard to know how you will be unless you have had other surgeries in the past.. I have always bounced back quickly... And none of my customers knew about my suregy so I couldn't miss much work. Also ..noo work no pay.. They all thought I had to have my gallbladder out in an emergency surgery. I said that just in case I needed more time. I did have it out with surgery anyway.
I was just fine..A little tired but really nothing awful.
Best wishes for a great recovery for you!!

I had the VSG on sept 27th and I will be returning to work on mon. I work at a school with 125 kids so I am always up and walking. But I could have totally gone back this week, I never take time off and like you was unsure how recovery would go. I felt great by the Saturday after and was out shopping that night with another VSG patient also, you will be amazed at how good you feel. Good luck!

I went back after two weeks. I was really tired by the afternoons so only worked until about 3pm.

I would go stir crazy if I had to stay home for 4-6 weeks.

Talk to your boss about doing 1/2 days from week 2. That may work better for both of you.

I had my surgery on a Wednesday and was back to work on Friday. I am a real estate agent and did an open house on Sunday. I didn't carry the signs or anything but I did go into the office and worked Friday doing paper work and stuff. I didn't take pain pills so I could drive. I was tired but that was about it.  I can't imagine having to take 4 to 6 weeks off unless you do heavy labor or something.

Wow!! That is amazing! How did you keep up on your fluids and protein in the early days back at work and so quickly after surgery? I truly can't imagine it...

My surgeon was really specific with what I needed to do in order to get all the protein and liquids in during the first two weeks. I sipped water and protein drinks all day. I had trouble getting in all the protein for the first few days but it got easier. Originally he said I needed 80 grams of protein a day but then upped it to 100 grams. I don't remember how well I actually did, but I lost all my excess weight really fast and didn't have any complications or problems. I never even experienced a stall. I am really good at following orders :-) I have had many surgeries and this was by far the easiest. It was easier than childbirth for me.

I forgot to mention that I am only a little taller than you are and I was 57 when I had my surgery. You will do just fine, I'm sure.

I hope so! So tell me how you got in all that protein and liquids?? Sipping both all day or you count protein drinks as part of the liquids total?

To be honest, I don't remember. I do know that I counted my protein shakes as part of my liquid requirement. It wasn't easy in the beginning but got easier really fast. You can only do your best but if you put in a lot of effort it will pay off.
