Even though they don't officially cover the sleeve yet, has anyone with Tricare gotten the sleeve paid for since Medicare started covering it?

I haven't had surgery yet, but have extensively researched this topic.  You CAN get the sleeve, but only at an MTF where there is a surgeon who does this procedure.  You CAN NOT get the sleeve through tricare standard off post, because it has not been approved yet through tricare.  I am at Eisenhower Military Hospital (Ft Gordon) and they do the sleeve here, but you don't get your approval through tricare, it is directly through hospital funding.  From what I've heard most all of the MTFs have surgeons that do it.  I have seen another post on here where a woman who had Tricare Standard was able to get her off post PCM to refer her to the MTF bariatric pathway, and thus was able to get her sleeve completely covered as well.  Hope this helps!  I start on the pathway at Eisenhower on October 9 and am pretty sure I have decided on the sleeve.

Thanks. I considered going to an MTF but there are not any around me so I am self paying unless I can get Tricare to pay. My doctor seems to think he can talk them into it now that Medicare is paying. Tricare usually follows Medicare. But just in case, I am still planning on self pay.
