I wasn't prescribed anything. I wish! The only thing I'm excited about is not having to go to work for a few weeks and hoping I get some of that liquid vicodin again. Ahhhh that was heaven in a bottle!

That's ashame they didn't prescibe anything.  The nurse said that the aren't even legally allowed to remove a gallbladder unless it has stones.  I hope I can stomach the medicine.  I tend to be sensitive to some meds.

Thats the ursodiol/actigall she's talking about.  My surgeon used a 6month course of treatment with it thats what most of the studies for that number were based on according to my surgeon.  In our program we took it with a three month course of PPI as well.

I didn't experience any problems with it myself.

I had to have my gallbladder removed after my pregnancy. They suspect that I developed the stones while I was pregnant. It was awful! I kept thinking I was in labor and I wasn't. When I ended up in the ER when my daughter was 6 weeks old, I was told I should go see my primary. As soon as I described my symptons, he said you need to have your gallbladder removed. He told me that it is a common side effect of rapid weight loss and usually women develop stones after pregnancy due to it. I would imagine that it would be the same after getting sleeved.

Sounds horrible at least you got it over with though.  They are painful from what I hear.  Like labor pains which is probably why they thought you were in labor.

It's a very common issue in women. Yo-yo dieting and the rapid loss post childbirth can trigger it, so can low cal diets.

I rarely see guys on here w GB issues. Lucks farts.

I had stones and got the gb removed w vsg.

I asked my Dr. About the gallbladder and she said she prescribes something that I will need to take for 6 months. If I follow her directions there will only be a 2 percent chance of having problems. She will not take it out during the WLS unless I have stones, etc.

I was going to ask my surgeeon about the medication .My ultrasound showed no gallstones but a polyp on the gallbladder. Insurance approved the removal of GB at same time I had the sleeve. I did great with a very easy recovery.
