Calling All Exercise Junkies

I was doing my aerobics after 2 weeks pre-op and weights (I believe it was 6 weeks).
I have a hernia in my stomach which I'm going to have surgery to fix (along with a tummy tuck) next year so I am unable to do crunches but at 6 weeks it was "a go" for everything for me=)
Love my workouts! I do them EVERYDAY!

I was cleared for all exercise at 6 weeks out. Took me a little while longer to bite the bullet and get down to business. I started exercising in earnest about 11 weeks post op.
I went straight into core work and weights. Basically, my trainer started me doing full body-core circuits. I do those three days per week followed by a half hour of cardio. 2 other days per week I also do an hour of cardio - usually on the elliptical. I regularly do over 5 miles on it now. I've broken the 12 minute mile mark on the elliptical and I'm pretty proud of that. I can't run because of major joint issues, but I'm working toward an 11 minute mile.
I started walking a year ago this month. Walking the block was painful. Love what the VSG has done for me!
You're far enough along that I'm sure your doc will clear you for all types of exercise. I really love what it's doing for my body, my health and my self image and self confidence.

I'm calling my surgeon on Tuesday. I remember him saying I would be cleared at three months. I'd like to start now. I've called my trainer. She's ready when I am. I need to step it up:)
I hate hate hate cardio...love the weight training.
You're doing awesome!!!! I hope I can like exercise as much as you!
How's school? You were right!!! It's been easy to get all my protein and water in at school. And, most of my energy is back!!! Finally, feel mostly normal if my back and knee would get with the program:)

School is turning out to be a pleasant surprise this year. Great group of kids and a breath of fresh air after last year's bunch.
I am enjoying the structure of the school day. I'm back to a really strict vitamin regimen as far as timing goes. That bell schedule sure does help me remember when to take the calcium throughout the day and to "get in so much water by that bell"! LOL. Being a creature of habit does come in handy with the VSG life.
Honestly, I don't like cardio or the weight training much at all. Or I should say the fat me doesn't like either. Now, this me, I like it because I'm strong enough to do it without it KILLING me, but it was hard a sh*t when I started. Now 5 miles feels refreshing! HA! I also get the whole endorphin thing going when I exercise and I am vain enough to enjoy what it's doing to the way I look! It's really a win-win and it helps me cope with food intake. I find exercise really curbs my appetite and makes me crave clean food rather than crap food.
