Starting soft foods tomorrow!!!
After 3 looooonnnnngggg weeks of clear liquids I get to move to soft foods tomorrow. I am stocked with eggs, riccota cheese, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese sticks, tuna, canned chicken, peanut butter, lite low sodium spam (I make a yummy spam salad), turkey meatballs and fish filets for baked fish. If there is anything else that you guys can recommend that you ate during the soft stage. I will be here for 3 more weeks!!
I also noticed that most people can only eat 2 oz at a time. During the soft stage is that 2 oz by weight or 1/4 of a cup? Don't want to mess anything up at this stage.

Hi Teresa
Congrats on getting through the liquids stage!
To answer you last question first, it's both. A quarter cup of cottage cheese should be about right your you. And a couple of ounces of fish or canned chicken should be about right. I'm just over 8 weeks our and have recently moved to about 1/3 cup or 3 ounces of dense protein a meal. I often make a full can of tuna into salad, but it makes 2 meals for me. Weighing and measuring your food is absolutely the right thing to do.
It sounds like your grocery shopping was comprehensive and other than some LF shredded mozzarella and cheddar, some refried beans, and marinara sauce, I think you mentioned enough variety to keep you going for a while. If you make your own marinara sauce (I do because it's so much better than the bottled stuff and I know what goes into it), you can use it on ricotta cheese and make the famous ricotta bake -- though I make it in my microwave. It's also tasty on some refried beans -- then again, I'd put my sauce on everything if I could LOL
If you haven't already joined, check out MyFitnessPal -- it is a great place to log your food and exercise. I'm Justme72847 there if you would like to add me. Many people from here are there, too, and the support and encouragement is amazing and truly helpful.
Good luck.............enjoy the beginning of your new life!
Nice to have you aboard!

Hi again,
My plan said NO fresh veggies until 6-8 weeks out.............however, I couldn't handle the tuna salad without some dill relish so I put it in and chewed it to death! Which we should be doing anyway LOL When I next saw my nutritionist, I told her what I did -- she raised an eyebrow LOL Then said if I had no problem with it, it was okay, but to wait on the onion and tomatoes (I like little pieces of tomato in mine, too) I was able to get through about week 5 and then I minced the onion super, super small and did the same with the tomato pieces. NO problem at all. I'd add things in one at a time, though. In case there is a problem, you'll be able to identify the culprit quickly.
This is the fun part -- the soft foods stage. I'm in it for another 4 months before I'm allowed to eat the "balanced diet" for bariatric patients. This soft stage is pretty much like the full foods stage except for a few things like dried fruits and nuts........and having to wait 6-8 weeks for FRESH fruit and veggies. No problem!
I've had a blast adding all kinds of herbs and spices and various cheese shreds and figuring out how to make things soft enough. On those occasions that things don't get cooked soft enough, I just chew them longer.
Hope you have an easy transition into soft foods! Good luck
Enjoy!
