A client/friend gave me a onederland gift - a new scale!

Yeah, I think it's one of the coolest gifts ever. This particular client is in the tech industry and I LOVE gadgets - I'm embarassed to admit how many gadgets in my house connect to our wifi connection or how elaborate our set up is here. LOL.... we're kind of technogeeks :)

How nice- what a cool gift!  Yeah, I don't think a scale is something anyone would ever give me at my top weight.  Funny how things change. ;)

Enjoy your cool new gadget, but especially enjoy your well-deserved success!

Nutshell:

Lost 140 lbs with VSG. (Hooray!!)

got pregnant  (yeaaaa!)

got cancer (boooo!)

regained 40 lbs.   (grrrr!)

In summary: Alive & Grateful.

Thanks... yeah, I think I was shocked that someone would give me that. I mean... I still have head issues around my size. I see people my size and think "wow, they look really good" and my husband points out they have 30 pounds on me. I dunno. I think it will be a few years and many more therapy sessions before I fully grasp my own size - and I'm still shrinking.

How long were you at your high weight?  I know the longer you have been MO, the longer it can take for the brain to "catch up" to your new body.

It has only been very recently that I've been able to tell that my body is smaller when looking in the mirror.  I actually *feel* just as fat as I did at 360, though.  I don't know if that makes sense.  I assume my body occupies as much space as it did 125 pounds ago, on some subconscious level.  But then when I can see things that are rather objective - like the space between my belly and the steering wheel (it used to touch!) then I am reminded that I am indeed smaller.

Has therapy been helpful for you in this regard?   I might consider that once I get closer to goal weight if I'm still feeling the same as I did at 360.  It's frustrating to have success but to really sense it at all.

(Sorry for going kinda OT!)

See, this is a day to day thing for me. Some days I feel skinny and thin and great. And others, not so much. I now don't blink at restaurant booths and things like that, so it's progress.

Therapy does help. It's really about time though, I think.

Heh, my blog has a photo of me behind the wheel of the car... LOL... really, that's what "drives" it home every time I start to feel weird.

I'm SO envious - I've had my eye on one of those for awhile. They don't seem to ever go on sale, and even the ones on eBay sell for more than I'm willing to part with for a used one. What a cool gift!!
