Wendy's chili is all I really actually like for the most part. I've never been a fast food fan and my family will only go there under duress at this point. None of us really care for any of it. I'd simply rather spend my calories elsewhere.

Honestly, in 11.5 months the only fast food I've had was a Wendy's chili--once.  I avoid those places like the plague.  Too much temptation there for me.

Some here are very anti fast food... I am not. I think you will find some great choices that fit within most of our plans at several places. Mcdonalds website has a meal builder feature. I love it because I can get the nut values to add on my fitness pal. I have all of the items below in my fitness pal "my foods" section. I eat 600 calories/ 20 carbs/ min 60 protein a day. Mushroom swiss wrap no tortilla- 190 calories/5 carbs/1 fiber/18 protein. Chipotle chicken wrap no tortilla-100 calories/5 carbs/13 protein. Sausage burrito no tortilla-160 calories/4 carbs/9 protein. Cheeseburger no bun-150 calories/5 carbs/10 protein. I only eat about 1/2 or 3/4 of each of the items listed at one time. All of them are between $.79 and $1.50. Pretty good in my book. Fast food didn't make me fat and isn't preventing me from losing weight. It is all about the choices I make.

I did some research online and tried to plan for the rare occasions when I had no other choice but FF.. I discovered Burger King has a great online calculator for each menu item you can deduct things like mayo or the bun or half the bun cheese etc and it gives you the nut you need to keep track of cal- carbs fat etc their grilled chicken sand is good no mayo half the bun and their reg HB half bun I can never eat the bread anyway to much food and too many carbs but you can work their menu pretty nicely to your advantage... Taco Bell is another place with good menu items with high protein and low cal options.. It's not ideal as we all know but do y,our best to make the right choices and you'll get through it Good luck

I have stayed away from outside foods like fast food and resturants because after putting some menu options into myfitnesspal it seems like there are so many extra calories in simple things like chicken when you eat out. I have been out to eat twice on special occasions and I ate Sashimi both times. (one of the only things i LOVE that i cant make myself)

I was lucky enough to have to go on a trip with my family so I had to learn quick, Burger King, grilled ckn sandwich, no bun, no mayo, they serve it in a dish with lettuce and tomato, I could eat about a third.  Wendy's I opt for there grilled ckn sandwich no bun also.  They both have great nutrional info, I found even with a little honey mustard at Wendy's it was half the calories of the chili, lots more protein too.  The Pita Pit is another go to, you pick what veggies and meat and there website has great info also.  I do not eat out often, I cook alot, but every once in a while life happens and it is nice to have options out there.

Wendy's chili is great however, rarely eat it as I try to keep my carbs approx 20 per day and in one small chili there is about 21 carb grams!  Yikes!

Haha! Just look at the can of worms you opened up!

Obviously it's not the best choice, but life happens and the biggest thing is to know that no matter where you go...there is always a good option. Maybe not the optimal option - but a good option.

Once, about 2 months after surgery I got stuck in a work situation where I ended up at a Five Guys Burger. I just ordered a small, plain burger with cheese. Ditched the bun and ate about a third of it.

So there you go, there is always a protien option!

Oh, and yes the chili at Wendy's has kinda high carbs - but you get a lot of fiber too so it evens it out. I've lost 93lbs in 4 months and I have Wendy's chili AT LEAST once a week, sometimes more! I've recently discovered Hormel White Bean Chicken Chili - omg. HEAVEN!

Maybe it's just me, but in my mind the key is to know whether fast food is something you have had a habit of abusing. I never had a problem with fast food, I maybe ate out at a place like that once a month if that often. So if I'm on the road, if I can't think of anything else that appeals I might find something on the menu that's protein-focused and eat an appropriate portion. It's not going to send me on a bender.
Sweets are a different story entirely, and even the healthier substitutes (protein pudding, etc) can be trigger foods for me. On a bad day I can down 3 peanut butter power crunch bars.
If fast food is a weak point for you, you might be better off avoiding tempation - think about alternatives. Most grocery stores have a deli where you can pick up a couple of slices of lunch meat and cheese. Some deli departments now have hard-boiled eggs.
