Thanks. The thing is that I really do believe that some people have to be 100% perfect all the time. My problem is that I know myself too well. If I don't have that 1/2 piece of lemon pie or whatever it is that I get in my head that I want/deserve/crave/whatever, then I end up binging on it. It's one of the things my counselor and I work on. There are foods I will likely never eat again because I also know those are foods that I cannot control.

BUT my eating philoshopsy has been more about making peace with foods in my life. Yes, I can have my popcorn and enjoy it, but I need to make it work for my plan and I need to make sure I'm not eating it just because I'm stressed. I do rely on certain foods to keep me on track, if that makes sense.

I dunno, it doesn't work for everyone and some people probably feel it's a cop out, but I come with a lot of baggage. That kind of stuff doesn't just disappear with the 75% of your stomach they take out. I've had such a war and love/hate relationship with myself and food for so many years that it actually feels good to come to an agreement with them.

Like I said, it sounds weird. LOL.

Great job on the weight loss! I know a few people that took 2 years to lose 80 lbs after VSG! Yep they were very slow losers but they didn't care. They got to their goal weights! Most of the sleeve studies show best excess weight loss occurs 18-24 months post op and that is pretty darn true most of the time. There is no RACE to get to goal in 6 months or even a year unless it just happens to occur that way. If it does great, if it doesn't, that is perfectly fine!. A lot of people take longer and who cares? The weight will come off and that is what matters! I really do believe in that cliche' expression that slow and steady wins the race too. All that matters is you get there. You have lost a phenomenal amount of weight and gained a lot of insight into yourself. It's more than just shedding the weight, it's shedding the shell and emerging a more self-aware person. Keep on keepin' on!

Yup. Although I do believe that you set yourself up in those first 3-6 months. You have to learn what to eat, what not to eat and you have to learn about your body, mind, spirit - along with food and nutrition. But yeah, I'm not done yet... in fact, I'm not sure if you're ever really "done"

Thank you! xoxo

You'll get there... just keep working and doing what you're supposed to be doing. It really is just getting your head around the game and making sure you're eating for the right reasons :) That's my biggest hurdle sometimes. Thank you!
