I noticed some people are doing shakes 3 to 4 weeks preop. I am wondering if people are using the shakes to lose weight before surgery (on thier own) or if the surgeon is recommending the shakes this far in advance of surgery.

Mine is surgeon requirement prior to surgery. I was supposed to start this 2 weeks prior to surgery, but I gained 9 pounds and they didn't like that so they wanted me to start early. I know I have lost most of the excess weight so then I will just make sure I maintain prior to surgery.

So I have went to two different surgeons,  (long story )  but any how the first one told me to start drinking the shakes like 3 months out.   since i didnt eat breakfast to use a shake there,  and maybe one for a snack later, then have dinner and a light lunch or salad and two fruit .    my second doctor whom I am acutally going to do the surgery with ,  told me I should not be doing the shakes at all untill my two week preop.    but then ok'd me to do one shake in the AM since its hard for me to eat......    So I guess that it depends on the doctor.       ps the premier shakes are good  bettter than the other  bariatric brands i have tried ......  yummy chocolate !!!!   I could drink them all day and not get tired of them.

I have had a shake for weekday breakfasts for over a year now. They are fast and I started them when I went to a weight loss clinic. But since I saw the surgeon I have gained 3 lbs when I am supposed to be losing 18 for the surgery (maybe I'm mourning the food I won't be able to have by eating it now?) So since I see people doing the shakes, maybe I'll start doing them for lunch and snacks too and just eat a sensible dinner to get the 18 lbs off.
