I want candy!

still have the odd cravings, the more carbs I eat the more cravings I have.

So luckily for the most part 95% of the time I eat mainly protein, however I still want candy and when I do give in to temptation it just doesnt taste the same , infact I eat it but dont enjoy it anymore! Whats up with that? Then a couple of weeks later I have the same cravings for the thing I didnt enjoy last time but still want it.

I have the odd small amount so its moderation control but cant work out why I still want it when obviously I'm not enjoying the eating of it.

Strange

What I have found out, is that sweets just don't taste the same and I just don't eat them any more, since I had surgery. It isn't worth it, to eat something that I don't get any enjoyment out of, any longer. Staying away from simple carbs will decrease your cravings for them.

The last few weeks I was wanting candy so bad that you would think that The Strangeloves and Bow Wow Wow had taken up residence in my head.

Instead of moderation, I took the bariatric approach - Quest Bars.  Those completely killed my craving for Hersheys Miniatures.  I had them as a desert, 200 calories with 20g of protein.  It fit into my plan and satisfied my sweet tooth emergence.

It may not be an alternative on a 600 calorie or 800 calorie diet, but at 1200 it works for me.

Same thing has happened to me on occasion - I want something sugary, then it doesn't taste the same if I give in.  I think it's a measure of just how addicting sugar is.  It stimulates something in the brain, or the gut, or both, so even after we've lost the taste, we still crave the high.

The nurse at my dr's office suggested if you're craving candy,
take grapes, rinse them, poor a little crystal light on them (a little!) and freeze them. It's a totally different taste and gives the sensation of eating candy!
