"Where are they now" ... 4 year 8 month VSGer
In case you didn't know - I LOVE YOU!!!!!
This is a great reminder for all the new_ops who think life is great and wonderful and they are cured and out of danger at 9-12 months out.
Plan your meals for the day before you leave the house, pre-measure and weigh everything. Track them (and you are kicking ass right now!) Ditch the drinks and desserts and put a "no food allowed" sign in your car and room.
We have 3 months to train for an accomplish our BIG GOAL. Let's use these three months to dedicate them to health and happiness :) I can't tell you how excited I am. Your courage and continuing efforts are such a motivation and inspiration to me. Thanks for posting this!

Yes we do have 3 months!! OMG I can't believe it's this close "already." My Mon-Fri is GREAT it's my off Fri, Sat & Sun that SUCK ****I have a birthday party with AMAZING cake this week, then my jobs picnic next weekend. I'm considering digging a whole and crawling into it. I might just forgo this weekend...I just don't have the "courage" or "strength" to say NO because it's what I NEED to do...fml right now.
I have been following my plan for a week now...except this weekend I went OFF big time because I "felt" hungry. I should have remembered my stomach ONLY feels hungry when I'm about to have an acid attack...and yup been suffering all ******g day.

Well let's look at it this way - 12 weeks sounds better :)
When it comes to social situations, I tend to bow out before the cake comes out. I suck at resisting, but i still get myself to go and make an appearance (if its something that is important to me). But if you dont think you have the strength to walk away without cake, dont go. You gotta take care of you first and foremost.

Hey girl! Honestly, you have done REALLY well if you think about it. A lot of VSG'ers experience a regain of about 10-15%. That is about what you fall into if you count your highest weight. I am sure you went on some sort of pre op diet? Most people without WLS can't keep off over 100 lbs for almost 5 years! I think you know that some people with WLS can't keep off over 100 lbs. YOU HAVE! I hope you count THAT as a victory. I still know that WLS helps a lot in keeping the weight off--even if most people can't keep off ALL of the weight they lost. Keeping off the majority is a great thing and you have.
All you can do is keep working on yourself and you continue to. At least you are conscious of what is going on and not living in denial. I can understand that after years of watching your intake so closely it got old. You are a smart lady and you know what to do.
Just curious if you exercise? I always have doctors tell me that it may only help a small percentage in getting the weight off--but it helps a LOT to keep the weight off.
I am not going to preach though. Being almost 5 years out you have been there and done that and have the badge LOL. You are a true vet. Do your thing and just keep working on yourself.
Good luck!

Honestly Curious because we don't malabsorb a VSGer ONLY will regain based 100% on diet choices. (IMHO). It was because I went off my diet and ran to old favorites that I have gained. I am SUPER proud of my accomplishments (which reach far beyond WLS and weight) I'm just as the young folk say "keeping it real" my head is NOT where it needs to be and if I keep gaining say 10+lbs a year where will I be in 10 YEARS from now? NOT is what you have to ultimately think about ya know.
Yup I exercise. Currently training for a 1/2 marathon in October. Did you know that most people who train often gain weight. Because in their heads they THINK they should be able to eat more because of all the exercise??
As an overweight person we ALL know "what to do." How many diets have we tried and failed? How many of "us" have lost weight only to gain it back. My WLS ONLY and I really mean ONLY prevents me from eating a WHOLE pizza in ONE sitting...but best believe over SEVERAL during the course of a day I can and have done it.
I preached that this game is ALL in the head when you reach 2 years, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years. It's about choices and triggers and if you haven't learned from them MANY (not all) are doomed to repeat them.
I'm working on this old head of mine which I choose to stick up my ass for umm 2 years now. One would think I would have gotten tired of the smell, but I digress...I learned from my sainted mother who went back to school for her bachelors degree at 64..it's NEVER to late.
