How Often Do You Eat?
6am-7am (sometime in there) a protein shake
11:30 lunch
3pm snack
6pm dinner
that's it, don't let myself have anything after dinner.

Hi Stephanie,
We're only a day apart for surgery, so we're at the same place. My plan says to eat 3 meals a day and have 1 or 2 snacks if needed.
I have my home made shake concoctions each morning around 7 a.m. By 10 or 10:30, I want something and usually grab a cheese stick -- only 50 calories and good protein. 12:30 - 1:00 is lunch. 5:30-6:00 is dinner. I try to have real food for lunch and dinner. I love tilapia and tuna and my home made Italian turkey meatballs..........again lots of protein for few calories. If I get hungry or find myself with a craving for something, I'll have another cheese stick at 8 - 9 p.m. And, of course, I am attached at the hip to my water container.
I noticed that if I don't drink enough during parts of a day, it almost feels like hunger -- it goes away once I remember to drink. Do you have that happened to you?
Anyway, that's pretty much my food schedule. I can't do without at least one snack at this point because eating more than about 1/4 cup of food is hard for me..........takes forever to get down.

Thanks for the response, Ree...I've really been doing a similar schedule. Sometimes my tummy feels empty and I do drink and it passes. I'm doing two shakes a day because I unable to eat all the protein I need. I'll be glad when I can get down to one shake a day and be able to eat more.
Hope today is a better day for you ...hugs!

I usually eat 6 times a day. 3 meals at 200-300 and 3 snacks at about a 100. There is some give and take there... if a meal is low then usually a snack is high. I try to feed the metabolism without over doing it. Snack carbs under 15, meal carbs under 30 and this avoids the wicked insulin/craving cycle.

My take may be a bit different than some here, and I'm not saying my way is "right," but it has been working for me.
I eat a small meal every three hours. I eat at least 15 grams of protein per meal and keep the carbs as low as possible. Calories per meal are usually less than 175 (at this stage... but I'm 4 months out).
I find that calling them all meals helps encourage me to eat about the same amount each time, which seems to keep me full longer. I also make sure to start drinkig fluids again as soon as possible and try to get in 20 oz between each pair of meals.
