Has your thyroid ever been checked? I have hypothyroidism and a thyroid disease called Hoshimoto's Disease that causes me to be cold to the point where I have to wear a jacket or coat in the house in the dead of summer!

I wish I had an explanation for you, but I too have the same problem. It's 93 here today and I love it! When I am in my office, I always have a jacket on. I would really like to understand why this occurs. And is it forever, or just while we're losing?

When I was going through the rapid weight loss phase, I was always freezing and it just kept getting worse. It didn't help that Nov/Dec of 2010 was very cold in Northern CA. The coldness was not only from the rapid weight loss and having less body fat, but I was also anemic and my thyroid medication needed adjusting.

Because I was so cold all the time, that is how I developed my Skinny Latte habit. LOL!!

It gradually improved with treatment and time, but at almost 2 years out, I freeze indoors at work and the heat doesn't bother me, like it used to. I just have less "insulation" than I used to have.

If you're not anemic or hypothyroid, it is most likely due to the lack of "insulation" or adipose tissue.

I have been cold since my VSG 18 months ago.  Since I live in Texas its not such a bad thing. I actually enjoy summer now but always have to keep a sweater nearby!

I live in South Florida, and I'm always freezing.  I now own a down jacket and a ski jacket, not to mention a wool dress coat.  Oh, the looks I get.  I used to feel cold before, but after my surgery it got worst!  I wear sweaters year round, I can't stand to go in the ocean unless it's 95+because once I'm wet, I freeze.  Even then, it's a mad dash for the towel, and I have to sit in the sunlight until I stop shivering.  I have been checked thoroughly and I have no physical problems.  I do have a low pulse and blood pressure, but I had that before surgery.  Get used to layers!  I'm 4 plus years out, and it's not getting better

I don't have any solutions for you, but I certainly understand how you feel. I have always been extremely sensitive to the cold, even when I was heavy. I have adrenal fatigue, and being cold all the time is part of the course. I absolutely love the heat of summer. When it is 35C here (95F), I am the happiest. I am the only one driving around with my windows open without AC. I miss my convertible on those days. As soon as it drops to 25 or lower, I start to shiver, and out come the pants, and long sleeves. Everyone looks at me like I'm from another planet. Winter is a nightmare for me. I am worried about how I will handle it with even less padding for body heat this year. Ack! I live in the wrong country too!

I like the idea of getting your thyroid tested, or hormones checked. Wouldn't hurt to ensure everything is working as they should be.

I always thought it was because of losing all the insulation (fat!) but hmmm I dunno. I Can say it's making me nervous for winter. I hadn't thought about this till now but all my protein drinks are COLD. I guess I could go back to the unjury chicken soup if I gotta to survive the winter! lol

Try living in Canada with our cold winters and then having the air conditioning on in our office is doing the same thing to me, I can't handle it and don't know if I can stand another winter here.

Get your thyroid checked, I did and borderline hypothyroidism now, freezing cold is a symptom and so is my extreme tiredness. It was fine before surgery and being rechecked in September to see if it is at the point of needing medication. It could also be the reason I am losing so slowly now that my thyroid is not functioning properly, the medication will apparently get it functioning properly again and will look forward to my weight loss picking up again if this is the case. I really don't know why I can't lose when I am sticking to plan other then the building muscle from exercise and strengthening I am doing. It is depressing a bit and just want to know what is going on.

Oh and my platelets are low as well which could be a sign of anemia, my bloodwork wasnt the greatest this time around where dr put me on prenatal with low folic acid that I am not absorbing from my multi vitamins. I am doomed or at least feel like it still. I guess someone mentioned B9s to me for the folic acid issue when I went to a vitamin shop so that will be my next step if I am still not getting it from the maternal vitamins.

I read quite a bit about it back when I dealt with this issue the first year out. At 3 years out(and I don't know if pregnancy effects this), but I honestly haven't had this issue since last year when I got pregnant.

But, a drop in metabolism and fat tissue is what I recall being the issue. If I remember correctly, once I really got a handle on my weight, food intake, activity level, the chronic cold adjusted itself. Just a few months later I was pregnant, and the best part is that I made it through a FL summer without being miserably hot. This summer, not so much, I sweat like a ***** in church at alter call with Ashton, and I'm pretty miserable this summer. I'm not sure if it's just hotter/more humid this summer or if it's because I've already gained 24lbs and pretty much at my delivery weight from Tatum so I'm lugging an extra 35lbs over my maintenance weight. The only place I get cold is at our local Waffle House, and it's like a meat locker in there.
