Coastal SoCal is around the 70s most of the time too..... I'm just on the other side of the Santa Monica mountains from Malibu, directly north. About 8 miles from the beach. Probably can't really be considered "coastal" but close enough. I can watch the beach fog roll in every evening over the ridges. It doesn't actually roll in here, but close enough to cool down the evenings. When I moved here from Pasadena area I was appalled that the house didn't have A/C, so I had it installed. I use it probably a few weeks a year.
