Off Topic: Found something for funky frizzy textured post VSG hair
Howdy,
I have been blessed by not having to deal with any significant hairloss. BUT the texture of my hair has certainly changed, and not for the better. It is more coarse, drier, and ridiculously prone to poofing up into a frizzy mess. Used to have problems with frizz before surgery, but now it is at a whole new electrifed looking level. But alas, I found something for the first time ever that can tame the hair beast! Smoothed out the hair and knocked out 95% or so of the frizz leaving it softer to the touch with a bit of gloss to it- I am in love! It is Dove Nourishing Oil Care leave in cream and it is not very expensive at all. Found it for less then $5 in Walmart. This was the first time I tried one of those free trial sizes you get in the newspaper and I am so glad I did!!! Here is a link so you can see a picture- note the gold lettering it will help you find it on the shelf.

Is it where you don't use shampoo at all? A site I looked at a few years back mentioned that people with curly hair shouldn't use shampoo, I forgot the reason why. I bought some Bert's Bees shampoo before that was sulfate free and it seemed to make my hair even dryer, I didn't use it long enough to see if it helped any though.
I use sulfate free shampoo every once in a great while. But usually I do not shampoo my hair. I condition wash, rinse and then deep condition.
For styling I use a variety of different things but all of them are silicone free.
Sulfates dry out your hair. It's like using dish soap on your hair, strips all of the oil, even the good ones. Curly hair is more porous and absorbs things (like silicones) that will build up over time to cause your hair to get weighed down and not curl well. It also causes frizz.
Look up the curly girl method, try it for a couple months, I swear it's worth it!

My hair is a naughty one case too but I'm not comfortable with anything on my hair, creams or oils. Can do nothing with a terrible feeling when all this stuff is on my head. Though I've stumbled up with this review and for now it looks quiet invigorating. Tourmaline-infused irons caught my eye.
