My doctor does it at three months.  This post reminds me that I need to set up an appointment to have that done!

My surgeon does every 3 months.  Being diabetic, in the past I also have them add a HgA1C to that test just to keep an eye on that.

It doesn't necessarily have to be your surgeon, your PCP can do it as well.

Ok What tests should he do if I go to my PCP? Is there anything I need to make sure they check after having WLS? Thanks

I'm sure your PCP would know what tests to run.  They are basically looking for any vitamin deficiencies or metabolic issues.  I would tell your PCP up front why you are asking for the bloodwork and they can do any research the need to make sure they get the right tests.

My surgeon does 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, and then semi annually after that for the first three years (I think.)  I have my 1 year coming up and already have the prescription for it, so here is what is on it:

CMP, CBC, LIPID Panel, B12, Thaimin/Plasma, Folic Acid, Vitamin D, Vitamin D 25 Hydroxy, Fe, Transferrin, Ferritin, PTH, HgBAIC

I couldnt tell you what all of those means, but that's what is on the list :)

In the first year I made my PCP do bloodwork every 3 months. Year two will be every 3-6 months depending on how I'm feeling.
